"OK but not Great"

6.0

Situated right next door to its partner hotel Lilianfels it is rather the poor relation. Not really deserving of 4 stars as it has to share the facilities offered by Lilianfels next door, i.e. pool, tennis, gym etc. We had a superior garden room with not surprisingly garden access and yes great views of the Blue mountains. Room was fine, but two singles pushed together meant a not so comfy bed. Annoyingly the extractor fan in the ensuite didn't work so shaving in the fogged mirror was a challenge and the lingering odours of course! Tea/coffee room facilities were only up to poor Motel standards and a real let down. Absolutely not disabled friendly with many stairs down to our room and the same up to the bar and restaurant with no lift! Bar, restaurant and outdoor deck are showing a lack of maintenance. Staff were friendly and helpful which is always nice. Parking for guests can be a real issue in the evening with casual diners taking up the allocated spaces. Disappointed by the limited breakfast menu choices (extra charge) especially when staying four nights as we did. At $625 per night inc breakfast our stay was far from memorable. My advice, pay a little more and stay at Lilianfels and give Echoes a miss.

"Disappointing but a great view"

4.0

The view from the balcony was breathtaking, but everything else was disappointing. The hotel and room were tired, dirty and in desperate need of a renovation. There was trash on the ground outside the balcony and the balcony itself was dirty and had tracks from Overgrown vines that had been pulled off the columns but not wiped down. The hours for food/beverage service are limited and if you want to get an early start, breakfast doesn’t begin until 8. We returned from one hike at 10:15am (breakfast ends at 10) and were told we couldn’t even get a cup of coffee because the kitchen was closed. (The coffee from the machine provided in the room was watery). I opened the candy bar in the mini fridge and it was discolored, mottled and clearly old. Bathroom was tight, dated and dirty. Same with the carpet and the mismatched, unattractive room furniture. The bar doesn’t open until the kitchen opens for dinner, so if you are looking for a late afternoon glass of wine/cocktail you are out of luck. There is a pianist in the bar who was very talented but way too loud-it is a small bar space-and the volume made it very difficult to have a conversation, even in the adjoining dining room (unless you were at the farthest tables from the bar). Service and food were average, the cocktails were good. We went to the lilianfels lounge the second night and the hotel was in better shape, though still not what we expected with dirty windows, spider webs and not particularly well-kept landscaping. We weren’t able to see the rooms there but it looks like it would be the better option. If we return to the Blue Mountains we will look for other options or perhaps stay in another town. It’s a shame, because the property could be lovely.

Wonderful room. Excellent service. Either we had very noisy neighbours or the soundproofing between the rooms could be better.

"Disappointed high end hotel"

2.0

I can’t believe that a hotel that charges over $400 a room has a heater in the room that channels the noise directly from the upstairs into your bedroom!!! Our bed might as well of been in the middle of the restaurant as we could hear every conversation that was been discussed and the rocus noise Not happy . I did discuss with hotel staff and they just shrugged their shoulders!

"Great location which disappoints overall"

4.0

The location of this hotel is truely incredible and the views from the balcony and restaurant are spectacular. Additionally, the sister hotel next door has a fantastic outdoor pool which is available. However, the restaurant is generally poor and trades on the location rather than the quality and service. The fabric and maintenance is lacking for example cobwebs abound in the ceiling areas. Additionally, the rooms are tired in need of refubishment or at least a really good clean when you look closely the housekeeping is not up to the standard portrayed. Disappointing given the stunning location.

"Room with a view."

10.0

What a location! The hotel is located atop a bluff in the Blue Mountains providing views for most of the rooms and the restaurant. The room also checked the three important boxes: clean, comfortable and quiet. It is also steps from Echoes point with beautiful vistas and easy hiking trails. There is also a bluff trail from Echoes that has a spur that goes to the hotel.

Just a great place to stay and relax with easy access to the attractions of the Blue mountains. Food on site was very high end. This is an observation, not a complaint, the dimming options are high end full formal price fixed multi course meals. We went into town for something lighter and less formal.
