"Tired, tatty and impersonal."

6.0

A boutique hotel is a type of hotel that feels small, intimate, and quaint. It typically has less than 100 rooms and offers guests an ultra-personal service. Or a least that is the generally accepted definition. Sadly Echoes whilst meeting the room limitation misses the “ultra-personal” by a country mile, an Aussie country mile at that. We had two rooms, both on the lower ground, one with a double bed and one with a double and a put-up bed, they couldn’t manage a twin. Both were somewhat tatty, indeed someone came into our room whilst we were out and re-glued the architrave back onto the wall. The in house restaurant is allegedly fine dining but we didn’t try it as the menu choices were too limited for our 16 year old. Oh, and don’t expect to get a drink at the end of a hard days touristing because the bar doesn’t start service until 17:30. If you want to watch a sunset with a glass of wine you’ll have to go to the bottle-o in town.

"Should have been amazing for the price but it was OK"

6.0

My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights with breakfast included and paid $1,200. The location of this hotel is awesome, it's only a few mins away from the 3 sisters and some local hikes. The room itself we found wasn't clean, finding rubbish next to our bed, rods missing from the bathroom including some black stains in the grout, the rain shower also looked a little unclean too....and the bed was definitely not queen as advertised but a twin size and was VERY uncomfortable, half the bed was slanting down. We did ask for this to be fixed, although there was some improvement the 2nd night, we didn't sleep well again for the 2nd night which meant making the most of our trip was difficult because we were so tired. I am so surprised that for a supposed luxury stay that has such wonky beds. I've stayed at Toronga Zoo in Sydney in a tent that had more comfortable beds than this place. The view is amazing from the room looking over the Valley but if you step outside, there's no privacy whatsoever as you can see onto your neighbours balcony and room, so we kept our curtains closed for the most part. The restaurant was excellent but the waiting staff were not very good at explaining the menu or how the courses were going to work. For a hatted restaurant I was surprised, perhaps they were low on hospitality staff. The food and wine was excellent and very much enjoyed it, you can also enjoy a drink in their lounge area in front of the fire which had a very good Ambien. The receptionist was the saving grace of the service who was very accommodating and friendly, she was an absolute super star grabbing us coffee from next door when the cafe was closed. All in all, the experience was OK, it definitely wasn't worth the $1,200 we paid, when we next return to the Blue Mountains, I would stay elsewhere for that kind of money.

"Relaxing stay"

8.0

This hotel is located within walking distance to the Three Sisters and a 4 minute drive into the Main Street. Great location. Our room was lovely and clean. We have amazing views from our room, just so stunning. The only things I can fault on our room was the heater/air con unit didn’t really work. It barely blew out hot air so we did have to request extra blankets. The last thing was the parking lot is tiny and small to drive around in (if you have a big 4WD). The staff were friendly. The breakfast food was yummy. They didn’t have flavoured syrups for coffee (I like caramel in my coffee so I had to go to a cafe to get my caramel latte). When you stay here you get to use the indoor heated pool, sauna and steam room at the sister hotel across the road, Lilianfels. That was really lovely facilities.

"Not as advertised or confirmed"

6.0

Is always exciting when you plan a romantic mid week escape and book a Delux View Room with 180 degree views over looking the beautiful Jamison Valley in NSW's Blue Mountains only to find when you arrive that our Delux view room is actually I over looking the property's garden, which to be honest is rather lovely but not what was advertised and paid for in the booking and confirmation stages.
