Amsterdam's Curry Mansion Inn

I've been to Key West 26 times and stayed in approximately 20 different establishments and this is the worst. No on premises staff. Carpet smells like urine. No ability to leave your luggage at the front desk until check in time. This is a great place for spring breakers that want to put 6 people in a double room, but it's an epic POS for anyone else. Also, I've stayed at two Brightwood properties. The other one was the second worst place I've stayed in Key West. Avoid at all costs. On the other hand, the pool/deck area is probably middle of the pack to similarly priced hotels.

There is no front desk, and Security is very lax. Anyone can get to your door at any time of the night, which happened to us. There was no housekeeping, and they did not even supply tissues. Property is very rundown and needs a complete renovation. Previous stays were wonderful, but that was five years ago. Parking is a nightmare as there are not nearly enough spots for everyone.

This was NOT a good experience! There was no front desk, and they didn't answer the phone. We had no heat and it was 63 degrees in the room. After 2 days they gave us a portable heater, but didn't have one for my sister in another room. The fire alarm went off at around midnight and the fire department at first couldn't stop it because there was nobody there to open the room with the turn off switch. A bunch of people outside in their pajamas and cold. The fire alarm went off again the next day. A sink was clogged, a lamp broken. I think they watered down the soap, shampoo & conditioner. You can hear music until very late. On the positive side, the housekeeper was very nice, and the maintenance man fixed everything eventually - except the heat - there is no heat. It also is in a very good location.

Cannot recommend Curry Mansion. Our balcony has two tiny chairs and a view of the parking lot. Very noisy. In a motel like room with exterior doors. Hear everyone coming in and out of pool area going to their rooms. No staff on site at all! Worst of all the fire alarm went off for 30 minutes at 11:30 pm and no one on site to unlock doors the fire department wanted to get in to. No happy hour or breakfast with room rate as in previous years. No replenishment of towels or room cleaning. You’re paying for location only. Will not return here.

We have a tour of some various US locations in celebration of a 70th year this year. As part of our tour we wanted to celebrate by visiting Key West Florida & booked as well as paying to stay at this accommodation. We like the sound of this place ie location, atmosphere etc etc. Some 7/8 weeks after paying but still another 9 months before staying, I received a message through Hotels.com web that is detailed below asking me to cancel & rebook ( at an additional cost of approximately $1000 extra!!!!!!! ) I was gob smacked so I asked Hotels.com to investigate despite them not knowing anything about this matter. I also asked the hotel for documentary evidence that they relied on to support this issue. Nothing came forward from the hotel/Brightwell & Hotels.com said there was nothing that they were prepared to do. I cancelled my booking, got my refund & found another hotel that I hope will not employ this type of tactic. The mansion is beautiful but if you stay in the old part of the house be prepared for rooms that are in desperate need of a good cleaning. The molding is beautiful but hadn’t been dusted in a long time! The electrical in the bathroom could no way meet any kind of code. The hallways and stairs are in need of lighting. There is no one on site to answer any questions. You are on your own. Location is ideal!

The Curry Mansion Inn was more than we could have ever have hoped for. We stayed in a Poolside room (#116) of the main location (There is another location across the street called the James House). There was actually parking ON SITE!! If you have ever been to Key West then you know that FREE parking is very limited and we were thrilled to snag a spot (there are not many available but you could get luck like us). The location is AMAZING! Literally walk out of the front doors, turn right and BOOM you are on Duvall Street right behind Fogarty's restaurant. Our room was HUGE and everything we could have asked for. The pool is small but it's perfect for relaxing after exploring the island all day. Unfortunately when we were there they were renovating the restaurant so we didn't get to have that experience. But they even have a laundry facility available if you don't want to go home with dirty clothes. We can't wait to go back this spring!

Right in the middle of everything yet quiet at night. Beautiful room and helpful staff via text.

Its a old house refurbished into a hotel so electric, water pressure and staff were very little. No food on premises even tho website says their was. 4 Parking spaces and 1 handcap space. You are half block from Duval so you hear music & crowds But overall we enjoyed our stay.

Great room and very centrally located. Staff tho not on sight was responsive. Bass music noise from neighboring bar until midnight each night was annoying.
