Booked air con in room ended up sleeping in an oven staff didn’t care

Great staff. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful. They even changed rooms as our room got direct sunlight during a heatwave to another room for our last night so we could be more comfortable.

Nothing to dislike

I chose the Star Inn as I had previously stayed there with my spouse in 2018 Therefore all must have been good for me & son to stay again in 2026'

All was good nothing to dislike

Lovely friendly country inn situated in a small, tidy, pretty Leicestershire village. Clean and comfortable with character. Absolutely lovely staff looking to help out wherever they could. We were 4 friends attending a music festival 7 miles away (Glastonbudget!) and Ashton offered to drive us both to ans from the event so we could all have a proper drink. Amazing! Aside from the hospitality, we enjoyed a really plentiful continental breakfast which had all we wanted and was available in a relaxed environment. We loved this place! Car parking super easy out in the quiet roads in the middle of the village, which happens to have a really nice tearoom and craft shop opposite the inn.

Nothing to say, really, it was better than we expected all round.

No expense has been spared with the room spec down to a smart mirror in the bathroom and bespoke room furniture. Very impressed

I stayed once before with my son last year and the chef didn’t turn up for breakfast. The kitchen seems to be a weakness which is a shame; there were no steaks left for dinner/ fish n chip alternatywas disappointing and my English breakfast was burnt to a crisp in the morning. Very small continental selection too which is penny pinching!

Lack of parking and limited drawers for clothes

We didn’t get breakfast as it clearly stated breakfast between 7am and 10am we went down to the area at 7.30 am and everything was locked up

We stayed in room 5 and the bathroom was disgusting, black grease around and in the bath plug, which you had to touch to let the bath fill and empty. This area has not been cleaned for months. The outside area was very much the same, fag butts on the floor, rubbish around the area and not been touched since before winter, did witness 2 guy’s have 3 sweeps of trying to sweep the leaves but then stopped to have another fag then go inside to have a drink at the bar.
