"The Elegance of the Redwoods"

10.0

We had a magical stay at the Benbow Inn. The preservation of this beautiful, historic building alone is impressive, but the attention to detail and elegance were amazing. The room and grounds were absolutely lovely. The staff were warm, professional and attentive. The food and service at the restaurant were as close to fine dining as one would want when nestled away in the Redwoods. It was exceptional!

Loved the public areas, so regal and inviting. Nice welcoming grounds. Room itself was plush if slightly outdated, but that just added to the historic ambience.

"Decent stopover to see the redwoods"

6.0

Good location

Overpriced for the quality. It has charm but is very rundown and the plumbing and aircon need an upgrade.

"just what I said when I was asked at check-out... "Not Good""

3.0

not a lot...room was clean, beds comfortable. interesting room set up

Considering it was a historically significant room, the ambiance they created was interesting but made the room very cramped and as a result not very comfortable. Two stuffed chairs, a large bookcase, three tables and the bed filled the room considerably making very little space for our bags and easy access to them. We used the two chairs for our bags. With no TV in the room there was little to do in the room at all except read and/or sleep. We would retire early. The toilet would run periodically. which was somewhat annoying, but the air conditioning situation was particularly troubling. Upon our arrival, the temperature in the room was 80 degrees so we set the thermostat to a comfortable (for us) 68 degrees which the room temperature reached rather quickly and maintained for the rest of our awakened hours. Sometime after we went to sleep (around 9:00 p.m.) the cool air apparently stopped and the temperature in the room climbed to almost 80 degrees. I awoke in a sweat at about 2:00 a.m. to this realization and tried to see what if, anything had occurred. All settings were as we had originally set. I could not get comfortable for the rest of the evening and did not sleep. The interesting thing was that sometime between 5:00 and 6:00 a.m. the cool air started to flow again. the room would soon return to a comfortable level. The couple we were traveling with experienced the same situation in their room as well. Coincidence or intentional? Glad it was only a one-night stay

"A relaxing and memorable stay in a historic setting with beautiful views."

10.0

We stayed at the Benbow Inn for my husband’s birthday and enjoyed the unique setting. The inn sits in a dreamy spot, with views of the Benbow Bridge and the river that add to its charm. It was nice to spend time in a historic place that carries a sense of character and quiet. Overall, it made for a memorable and relaxing stay.

I came with certain expectations about the Benbow Inn, and overall they were met. There wasn’t really anything I disliked about the property—it offered what I was hoping for in terms of setting and atmosphere.

The aesthetic of the property is so cute. This is a gorgeous property. Very classy and welcoming.

Check in time is 4pm. We arrived around 4:30. While we were getting settled we were told housekeeping was still working on the room. So we had to leave the room while housekeeping finished up. We didn’t get settled until after 5. The appetizer at the restaurant was exceptional. The entrees were ok. Was overpriced for the food. The ambiance was good.
