"Amazing experience @ Ryokan in a park"

10.0

The service is exceptionally well! Staffs are all professional, friendly and thoughtful, prompt to our requests. The place is very clean, we could walk on the floor on bare feet but didn't feel any dust. Toilets and bathrooms downstairs are shared but never needed to wait, and they are very well maintained and very clean. The environment is quiet (as it is situated in a park, on a hill), and it takes just a few minutes to walk down, and it is actually a wonderful and unique experience to enjoy a short walk in a natural park! Convenient to visit other temples and Gion area by walk.

"Exceptional"

10.0

Spent 4 nights at Yoshimizu, my first time at a ryokan. Staying in a ryokan is an essential experience for anyone traveling to Japan, and I can't imagine a better place that Yoshimizu to do so. Perfectly situated just 20 minutes walk from downtown Kyoto, you have easy access to Nishiki Market, Pontocho Alley, the river and nearby train stations. The inn itself is set in a gorgeous park, near several shrines. It is a meditative experience to wake up every morning for a home-cooked breakfast by the exceedingly hospitable staff, walk the beautiful streets of Kyoto, and come home to a warm soak in the ryokan bath.

"Charming Ryokan"

10.0

Yoshimizu Inn is a gem tucked away in Marayuma Park in Kyoto. The staff who run this rustic ryokan were incredibly helpful and went out of their way to ensure we were looked after. The location is perfect if you are looking for quiet but want to be close to important temples and the historic Gion district of Kyoto. A short, pleasant walk through the park and you can stroll day or night, through this lovely part of the city or walk to a busier area where there are many restaurants. The room we stayed in was not luxurious but perfectly adequate, and the washroom was just outside our room. Our only complaint was the futons were very thin and we didn't think to ask for a few to make a more comfortable bed. Breakfast always included a homemade soup, hard boiled eggs, toast and fruit. This ryokan may not be for everyone but it sure was for us.

"Good location for visiting Gion and hagashiyama "

10.0

Great staff with hospitality. A hidden quiet place in the maruyama park. Cozy Japanese Ryokan experience. A comfort stay. However, the room is a little bit humid that makes my eyes and nose allergy. Will be back next time.

"Great experience! We're ready to visit again!"

10.0

This hotel is amazing. It's an experience sleeping in a traditional Japanese bed and using their bath. Service was amazing, the staff really want you to enjoy your stay. It's at the end of a beautiful park, a bit hard to find but nestled in the woods. We loved it!

"Beautiful and quiet Ryokan in Kyoto"

10.0

Wow. What a beautiful Ryokan located in what seems to be the backyard of temple. Located in a quiet park, this Ryokan provides a quiet area to retreat from the city of Kyoto, yet only a short walk away from all of the sites. The room was setup as expected, and I was allowed early check in with hot tea awaiting me in my traiditional room. I must admit, I had spent most of my nights in Japan as a backpacker, staying in hostels, AirBnBs, and overnight buses but I wanted to experience a traditional Japanese ryokan at least one night. I must admit that after staying at Yoshimizu, I regretted not staying there for more of my time in Kyoto. The staff was very kind and willing to help me chase down all of the sites to see in the city as well as provide tips for local onsens, temples, and other points of interests off the touristy beaten path. After having such a great time in the city, I lost track of time and was out later than allowed (they lock the doors at 11pm) but with a short phone call they allowed my late return. I also was able to keep my larger travel bag at the Inn as I explored my last day in the city and upon pickup, was invited in again after a cold day and was offered hot tea and a light snack before my departure. Japanese culture and hospitality truly lives in this ryokan, from the location, the traditional style, to the kind and accomdating staff. I cannot wait to return to this return to this ryokan someday and highly recommend it to anyone looking to visit Kyoto

"Cozy ryokan in Maruyama Park"

8.0

I had a very pleasant three night stay here while in Kyoto. The ryokan staff were so kind and knowledgeable, and helped mark interesting points on a guide map (that they provided) during check-in. Communication was no issue as all of the staff spoke English. The facilities were clean and breakfast was simple, but hearty. The ryokan is up a hill in Maruyama Park but it is close to some very famous sights (Yasaka Shrine, Kiyomizudera, Sannenzaka, Ninnenzaka, Chion-in, etc.) It is a 20 minute walk to Gion, the geisha district. I saw quite a few Maiko (apprentice geisha) on my trip. The rooms are tatami rooms, so they are fairly small for Western standards, but it was quite cozy. You will have to set up your futons yourself, and they provide a Yukata for you during your stay.
