Holiday Inn Express & Suites George West by IHG

Staffing struggled. One amazing woman, Mariah was all by herself that morning getting breakfast served and running the desk. She was friendly, kind and helpful. The water dispenser was broken but she found bottled water for our breakfast. She is the reason for my good rating.

Location was as advertised and accessible. Front desk that answered the phone ( I called to let them know we were running later than planned) on Tuesday afternoon was excellent. He was still there when we arrived and went out of his way to assist.

The front desk clerk that answered the phone on Tuesday afternoon was STILL on duty at 7:00 the following morning. His replacement that was scheduled for the night shift never showed. The advertised breakfast that was to begin at 6:30 am was not presented until some time after 8:15 (when we left the facility to find breakfast elsewhere). When we got back to the hotel, they did indeed have breakfast available but the juice machine was not in service. Water and milk were available. When I asked to be compensated for the breakfast we had to pay for (<$30 for 4), the desk clerk offered "points". Since we travel so little, we are not rewards members and asked to speak to the Manager on duty (General Manager). She responded very rudely without so much as an apology, pointing to the breakfast area and commented that breakfast was available. She refused any discount for our stay. We had 2 rooms which were on the same floor but at opposite ends of the hallway. There were many rooms between us that were not in use, so why couldn't we have been closer??

Room 102 stunk of mold/mildew, as soon as I walked in I could smell it...too tired to fight with the girl to get another room, so just dealt with it..but it stunk

Checkin process was super easy and the staff was friendly and accommodating. It was a clean room, needs some touchups but good. Breakfast is good and convent.

It's a quiet area, very clean. I will highly recommend this hotel and will stay again.

Checked in and room we reserved was not available and was upgraded to suite. But then got in suite and bathroom was not clean as floor was very dirty and sticky, counter was dirty and toilet seat was not stable . Moved and looked to be missing a screw to hold in place. Then in refrigerator was not cleaned and had a very bad smell coming from . Opened a realized something has spilled and had not been cleaned. Staff was nice and helpful but needs a little help with other conditions . Has pool but when we checked out could not see through water so cloudy . Was a definite no go for us.

My family and I enjoyed our stay. The only complaint we have is they need mats in the tub/shower. They are very slippery.

Staff was great, room was great. The pool was nasty, bugs in it and trash accumulated in several areas on the bottom. Pump was not circulating properly to filter water. The pool is the reason for the 3. We actually paid for a night at another motel after calling the Holiday Inn to confirm the pool was in good working order and clean.
