"Mixed, from feeling pampered to feeling second class."

8.0

Very handy and convenient property for our leisure. We enjoyed being greeted by a very pleasant, polite lady from Northern Ireland, the evening receptionist was very polite and friendly.

The Bar Staff on the evening blanked us, and served others who were behind us in a “queue “!

"Excellent location and historic hotel, lovely interior designs and very good restaurant offerings."

8.0

The building is lovely, a good comfortable feeling with a nice complement of books, and historic cultural elements. The restaurant was very good and Dan, a manager there, was delightful especially. The Catherine Parr suite was lovely. The Mute Swan pub was excellent for lunch with a diverse menu of tasty food and desserts.

On my arrival I was taken to a room that was not what I had reserved, and while I was shown another room that was nice it was an even lower level of comfort than the first. Only when I showed my room specific reservation was I taken to the Catherine Parr suite - which was being painted. I found this odd and the 4am - 4:30am sound of a man's voice from the Television (which was off) unsettling - especially that the hotel said they had previous complaints but did not check the television in this suite before or during my stay of two nights. - highly unsettling. No compensation was offered for these repeated 4am interruptions. The breakfast did not offer non-dairy milk (almond, oat, etc) and diid not have any dark bread. Otherwise it was very good.
