The Bear Hotel

Great food but be warned if you want to sleep dont bother staying here. The location is on a VERY busy road that has lorries/ HGVs shaking the building until very late at night and from the early hours. Service was slow, waited 10 minutes to check in and the bar staff were not keen to move away from the bar to take orders, if you could find any staff at all. The food was great both evening meal and breakfast but this place is let down by the excessive noise and the lack of service from its staff.

Nice pub and room, friendly staff

The hotel was nicely decorated and rooms were cosy and stylish. All staff were friendly and welcoming. Comfortable beds and lovely bathroom products. The room itself was noisy- both from staff ‘out back’ and from a constant whirring overnight (possibly the boiler) which meant I struggled to sleep in room 4. The room was warm and as windows don’t open, needed to use aircon which added to the noise. Reasonably priced minibar, unfortunately no sugar provided for the complimentary tea and Nespresso (we could have asked for this but it was morning and we were due down to breakfast anyway). Breakfast service was slow but food was delicious and good-sized portions.

Just a flying visit a one night/2 days away, meeting a friend for a leisurely lunch at the hotel, then meeting up with family next day. Staff very welcoming, all helpful nice to talk to, would do anything for you.Food wonderful good menu.Rooms comfortable and nice.

One night stay after party nearby. Nicely appointed room with comfy bed. Free parking behind and good central location. Breakfast very good and all staff really helpful. Certainly stay again.

The Bedroom was a good size and clean but, the shower was not good at all it was one over the bath.

Parking is a problem on busy days, There wasn’t room but when I called the hotel they told me to park in front of one of their staffs car and we swapped it later. The pub itself is a little ‘tired’ looking but the room was lovely. Staff are friendly and helpful. Having air con throughout when it was 36 degrees outside was a bonus. Would definitely stay again.
