The Bear Hotel

Over priced for a small room in need of bathroom maintenance and very noisy from traffic

We stayed on a Saturday evening - the room, bar, restaurant area and garden were all lovely. Staff were very helpful and nice, it's right in Esher and the breakfast was amazing! Will definitely stay again!

Friendly staff - couldn’t be more helpful!

Apart from the nice accommodation what really made our stay complete was the very helpful and pleasant staff for whom nothing was too much trouble from booking a taxi to bringing tea bags to the room at midnight, many thanks.

Lovely little pub/hotel, cosy bar, very friendly and helpful staff, fabulous food. Car parking was handy. Room surprisingly quiet, being I was situated at the front which is right onto the main street. Room spacious, nice tea & coffee, the mini bar is a nice touch. Bathroom very clean and no issues with hot water. The only (constructive) criticism I would have is that, although I understand the low lighting to give the room ambience and to feel cosy away from home, it is NOT conducive to women applying make up and doing their hair! There isn't a proper light in the room - just 3 lamps all with a reduced glow. The light in the bathroom is fine but you can't see properly because of the sink getting in the way of the mirror. It's not just this hotel - a huge majority of the ones I stay in are like this and many other female travellers have the same gripe. Anyway, a small matter for the owners to take up. Overall a fab little place and I will definitely book again if in the area. The breakfast was so huge, I couldn't eat it all and didn't eat for the rest of the day! Thumbs up for taste and quality.

Very nice hotel with good dining services and nice rooms. Will definitely use again

This was a 1 night stay for my wife and I whilst we went to Sandown races. The hotel/pub was very comfortable with friendly helpful staff & a good range of beers. Breakfast was excellent. Not cheap but good value.

I was on a business trip and The Bear was a great choice, friendly atmosphere, good food and nice bar. But remember it is a pub so there was noise coming up from the bar until quite late.

During our one night stay the TV didn't work and they were unable to fix it Most of the time the internet was down as well

Very comfortable, food excellent, staff friendly and helpful. Always happy at The Bear, in spite of the fact that the TV reception was not very good in our room - only channels 1 and 2 totally clear - and radio reception was breaking up so badly it was not worth the bother.
