Good central location. Large room with comfy beds. Lovely shortbread!

the hotel was clean and comfortable every thing you could wish for!

Absolute little gem of a place, atmosphere was warm, freindly and intimate. Will be back :)

Excellent. Friendly welcome, lovely room, with extras such as peppermint tea and water, which was free, and extra goodies that were chargeable such as crisps and chocolates. Lovely breakfast, which was included in the room price

Good hotel. Bit noisy but to be expected above a pub.

Good food, nice room and comfy bed

We were attending a family party nearby. The hotel was very convenient. Clean and tidy.Just the job.

We received a wonderful welcome and having stayed here before we were not surprised by the comfort and great surroundings. We stayed the night following Ladies Day at the nearby Sandown Racecourse. Because of the event the pub/hotel was busy and breakfast was not to the normal standard. There was no fruit, no toast and a poorly cooked fry up. It was served by a waitress who totally ignored requests for sauces etc. Her attitude was matched by the guy at checkout who clearly has never been taught how to smile and provide customer service. This was just such a shame as we know how good The Bear can be and as previously mentioned, the wonderful welcome we received. I can only think because they were so busy they ended up having temporary staff who were just not up to scratch. I'm confident we will stay again, but will check the race course schedule next time!
