Hotel Riu Touareg - All Inclusive

Just home . All in all a great holiday . Hotel is closing for 6 months soon for a refurb. Tip . Check in on line via RIU app. Massively speeds up getting in your room . Use app to report room issues, book restaurants etc. Works very well. Quick check in , room was big, large shower, hairdryer, safe, fridge , TV, water supplied throughout, kettle, selection of teas , coffee, etc. Our fridge wasn't working & safe needed resetting , all reported via app & duly dealt with. Maids do sterling job. No issues whatsoever with room or facilities. The gardens are immaculate. High 5 the gardeners who often get overlooked. Loads of sunbeds . Always plenty spare. Pool towel hut , changed every day . Pool area is clean , bars are well staffed. Great selection of drinks , cocktails etc. Mojitoes are lovely! Weather for our ten days was fantastic. Well worth spending extra hour or so on plane to go past Canaries and have the CV climate . No mosquitoes ! Now for some not so good points. Unless you get to main buffet restaurant as food is put out , its tepid at best. We were first in on occasion & still cold . Breakfast in Berber restaurant by pool was better but still cold & miserable Chef wasn't very accommodating. Omelettes & eggs are cooked in advance , so also cold. Great selection of fruit, continental meats, cheeses, pastries, smoothies. I reported toaster as got a nasty shock one day . Main restaurant is like a scrum. Waitresses & waiters do a magnificent job turning over the tables rapidly. Some guests are just ignorant & resemble chimps at a tea party . Poor staff have to clean their disgusting tables. Well done restaurant staff. The Asian & Italian restaurants, pre booked via app were fantastic. Less crowded, more orderly and the food quality in both was superb. We were lucky to have 5 sittings out of our 10 days. Beautiful food & great staff. The day time entertainment is All Inclusive usual , volley ball, boules, archery, water polo & basket ball, yoga, aerobics, pool party etc. Night time was dismal . Same every night , loud , backing tracks , bands . Found this very disappointing as did other guests who disappeared to play cards or watch TV. Karaoke bar is more lively , late on . Worth a visit . They organise the QR code quizzes on mobile phones . Same one repeated (flags & celebrity faces) Come on. Do a two week rotation . We loved hotel & would return but elements need addressing & improving. I kind of feel it goes from one extreme to other. Beach donkeys are super cute & people take fruit etc for them. The Security Guards chase them but they're tame and do no harm. I'm an avid animal fan. The cats are in a care programme , ears nicked to show neutering & spaying. There are food stations for them dotted around. I confess, I fed them extra food . Very tame and friendly. Last but not least , neither if us had any upset tummies and I had mussels & langoustines most days !

This hotel is massive, and our daily step count was an average of 8000 steps per day. The hotel is maintained to an excellent standard, although spoilt by the SMOKING MUPPETS who feel it is acceptable to drop their tab ends on the floor, pure ignorance from those who will die earlier than the rest of us. The grounds men work so hard to keep the place immaculate, come on guys, dispose of your cancer sticks properly. OMG smoking is so not wanted nowadays. The food was good, but like all other all-inclusives, it can be repetitive and lukewarm. There is a microwave, so I heated mine for 40 seconds. The restaurant staff were very attentive, and you were always looked after really well. There was entertainment every night, but not suited to us, so we had a few quiet nights in the adult-only area. Overall a great holiday.

Wasn't sure what to expect, mixed reviews but very pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. When you consider you are visiting a volcanic island with limited resources, the hotel we stayed at was like an oasis in the desert. The staff are incredible, the amenities are first rate and the food was of the highest standard. You could argue that the drink selection was limited , but once I had shown the bar staff how to create a Negroni, I was quite content. The evening entertainment was very enjoyable , the rooms cool and comfortable, a special mention to the cleaners of our room, they went above and beyond the cleaning of our room. There are ample excursions such as beach parties and catamaran trips and if you just want peace and quiet , this place is ideal. The hotel is due to be refurbished so we can expect a price hike but I would still like to return.

Had a great time pity adults only closing down next year so relaxing the staff were very nice and pleasant couldn't do enough for us

Lovely hotel but little bit old fashion. No lights at bathroom, only one electricty plug. Staff amazing very friendly, food lovley, close to sea side, very nice beach

Although it is out of the way, you have everything on site. Staff were excellent, food was of a good reasonable standard. Only issue was other people around pool area had their music playing out loud. This isn’t a party place, it’s designed for families. Beach area is amazing and it’s a good 8 miles long. I did a 10 mile walk with almost no one around. Would stay here again, weather was great.

Even though this hotel is closing for refurbishment it’s still spotlessly clean, the food is plentiful with lots of choice, but it’s the staff that make this such a wonderful hotel to holiday in

Great ten days of peace and adventure. The beach was peaceful and relaxing with drinks obtained from the poolside bar. The general restaurant was very good but we also booked the Italian, Asian and Boa Vista restaurant for variety and the best of which were the Italian and Asian. We booked a catamaran half day which was pleasant but unexciting as the snorkelling was in an area with no fish - though we were lucky to see a whale and a gig turtle swim by. However the half day quad biking was fantastic and highly recommended. The guided day trip to see the island was also very good and we travelled in a 4x4 Toyota Land Cruiser.

Beautiful large property on the edge of a vast beach. Although large never felt too busy or crowded.

Great holiday for the price we paid would have been disappointed if I had had paid top price staff all lovely though couldn’t fault any of them
