The Meltham Guesthouse

Meltham House is a fantastic base to travel the East Coast and the premises itself was as good as anywhere I have stayed before. The facilities are great and the owner if very friendly and helpful. I will return.

The room was lovely and spotless and very comfortable the bed was also comfortable the hosts Alison and Marc were very nice and couldnt do enough the breakfast was very nice and we would definately return.

An excellent place to stay, clean and friendly and a short walk to Peasholm Park, the Open Air theater and North Bay Beach. The roads are wider in this part of town and you can park for 3 hours on the street with a disc, or all day with a scratcher card from Alison. Room 2 is a well-planned and decorated double twin room with a spacious bathroom. There is a large tub and an easy to operate shower. The breakfast was excellent. If you have children with you, there is a games room in the basement to keep them entertained. A folder of places to visit is provided too.

Liked my stay at the Meltham, only gripe is with Expedia - who failed to get the property details right. Stated 'no pets' yet found to allow them - this is a serious failing as I have a very common pet allergy - which could put me in hospital. Guest house fortunately put me in an upstairs room away from problems and I accept it was not their fault. Expedia - time to get your act together!

Great hosts nothing to much trouble. Very friendly nice people. Absolutely pristine room. Very good location close to north bay beach (6min walk )12 to 15 min walk to town centre.

This was a lovely guest house in a good location. The owners were very happy, jolly and welcoming. We had a nice sized room and bathroom with a good selection of teas, coffees and a kettle in the room. The lighting options were awesome. (So many places seem to have dim lighting!) The wifi was excellent and there were lots of power outlets and a fan. Everything was well thought out to meet a guests needs. We had an excellent Full English breakfast each in the morning with plenty of tea. The only 'bad' thing we had was we had to park a couple streets over due to a huge concert being in town that night. The owners gave us a parking disk to put on the car dash and it was free to park there overnight. More inconvenient than 'bad' as we had a lot of baggage and it probably isnt that bad on a normal night in town. After we checked in we took a lovely walk along the seafront which was an easy walk away. We also found a lovely pub just up the road. We would definitely stay here again. Thankyou!

The Meltham gave us a free parking disc when we arrived in Scarborough at 10.00am, which was GREAT. We parked on the road outside and didn't need to move the car at all during our stay. Our comfy room was ready, so we checked straight in. Alison was really helpful with LOADS of useful tips about the area. Great value for money, everything we needed was provided in our room (as well as toiletries, sewing kit, shower cap) tea, coffee and biscuits. Lovely breakfast (fruit and cereals followed by a tasty full English). A really good B and B, easy walking distance for our overnight stay after the Open Air Theatre concert. Thanks!

Booked The Meltham due to location for open air theatre. It didn't disappoint in any way. Met by the very friendly host (Alison) who gave us a permit to park. Because we had arrived early we went for a look around and we were messaged as soon as our room was ready. We had room 5 and despite a few stairs the room had everything we needed included a spacious bathroom with a shower that was easy to control and very good. The room was spotlessly clean and tidy the bed was very comfortable and we both slept well. Next morning breakfast (which was conveniently pre ordered) was plentiful and very nice also staying were other guests who had been to the same Jane Mcdonald concert the night before so some pleasant chit-chat over breakfast. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at The Meltham again and would recommend to anyone visiting Scarborough 😊
