Higuerón Hotel Málaga, Curio Collection by Hilton

Large hotel situated in a quiet location mainly geared to sports activities., shuttle bus to beach is available but note takes 45 mins to get to the beach going all around the resort. Very few options locally to eat out. Hotel rooms have a quirky layout with bath tub in main bedroom area and not a lot of privacy in shower or toilet area which some might find a little strange. Had a problem with first room due to dusty, unclean balcony area and noise from ongoing works on paths below, however we were moved to a better room which had much nicer feel and views over sports facilities. Breakfast was good. Can be confusing working out what free facilities belong to hotel and what belongs to sports club. Confusing working out which pools hotel guest could use as no signs on any of them, nor the hours of operation . We sat at the pool nearest sports club at 10.30 am as we wanted a relaxing hour before going out for the day but couldnt get towels from anywhere, was told attendant maybe there by 11.30 so we would just have to wait........sorry this is not acceptable form a 5 star resort !!!! even reception refused to help with this/ Probably wouldnt choose to stay in this hotel again

Stayed here for 2nd time but wow how things change. We were allocated 2 side rooms with dirty balconies and building work below. After a late arrival we were woken up by noisy builders and banging earlier than 8am. We asked for a change of room but was told the hotel was full but they may be able to move us in 2 days. On day 2 after showing reception the photos we were moved immediately to a better room. Oh not to mention the dust! Nobody mentions all the add on fees for use of spa facilities and some pools. To use the Spa for 90 minutes is an extra cost of around £50. The top floor bar needed attention too. This is not a 5 star hotel anymore. The rooms are quirky if you like that sort of thing but we knew they were a challenge. There had been some dodgy work in the toilet area and the sealant must have been done by a 5 year old. You have limited access to pools. We wanted towels just to sit out around one pool for an hour but was told that was only accessible to club members!! Even though the "club" area was happy to take our money for their expensive drinks. On a positive note, breakfast was good with plenty of choice. You can look at the sports facilities but be earned you have to be a paid member!!

Very disappointing stay. A key issue is the misleading and limited pool access. One of the pools, which offers shade with umbrellas, is for members only and is not accessible to hotel guests. The main infinity pool, which is heavily advertised, is also not included in the room rate and requires an additional charge of €50 per person. This was not made sufficiently clear before arrival. As a result, the only pool available to guests is very small and offers very little shade. The pool towel service was also poorly managed, with staff only arriving after 11:00 a.m. The beach is far away, they recommend you to walk, but the walk is a very long walk in a downhill road, which takes around 25 minutes ( I’d not recommend it with 35+ degrees) The room itself also had several problems, despite the beautiful sea view. The bed was assembled upside down and made noise with every movement, making it uncomfortable to sleep (5 stars hotel)? The bathroom is so tiny that there is barely space to move. The bathtub is placed directly in the living area in front of the sofa bed, which is highly unusual, but the view could be nice for those liking alternative architecture. Restaurant service was also poor. Staff appeared unfamiliar with the ingredients in the dishes and were unable to answer basic questions about allergens, and waiting times to get things like bread ( needed to ask twice) and for the bill were excessively long. Overall, the experience reflects appalling customer service, misleading facilities, and poor value for money. I would never recommend it to anybody and for sure not reflecting the customer service you’d expect from a 5 stara hotel or from an Hilton hotel.
