Higuerón Hotel Málaga, Curio Collection by Hilton

The hotel is new and with good sports facilities although some of the gym staff are not friendly. The gym doesn't open until 7.00 am. The front desk staff are friendly and helpful. Once the planting around the hotel has established itself it will create a nicer feel. I was not a big fan of the open plan bathroom and bedroom, and the handles in the shower and by the bathroom seemed to have come directly from a hospital supply catalogue. For the money I have stayed in nicer hotels including Hilton hotels.

Nice hotel with a good chilled relaxing environment Rooms a little quirky and thought these would be nicer for a 5 star.

Extremely disappointing experience at Higueron Hotel. If management truly cares about resolving these issues, they should include an email address in their response that I can cc when contacting Hilton executives about this experience. What is most frustrating is that many negative reviews seem to receive the same generic management response about how the hotel “cares” and “takes feedback seriously,” but based on this experience, nothing has actually changed. For a property connected to Hilton, this was well below the standard expected. As someone involved in travel and lodging bookings at a significant volume, I will also be reaching out to contacts at Hilton corporate about this experience. Guests should not be paying premium rates for broken A/C, poor service, unanswered phones, missing basic amenities, poor property conditions, and rooms that do not match what was paid for. The check-in process was completely disorganized, and no useful information was provided about the property or amenities. The person checking us in seemed irritated that he even had to assist us and acted as though he was doing us a favor rather than welcoming guests to the hotel. We paid for an upgraded room with an ocean view, but the room we were moved into did not have the ocean view we paid for. The original room had a broken A/C, and after unpacking everything, we had to move rooms ourselves because no one from the hotel offered to help. The entire situation felt incredibly misleading and honestly like a scam. When we first suspected the A/C was not working, we called the front desk and sat on hold for roughly 10 minutes before finally giving up and walking down ourselves. The person who checked us in was also far from hospitable and gave off a very cold, unwelcoming attitude from the start. The replacement room was also missing basic items, including a hair dryer. We tried calling both the front desk and housekeeping, and no one answered. The physical condition of the hotel was also shocking for a property like this. The rooms and hallways looked worse than many 2-star hotels I have seen. There were broken pieces of trim, peeling paint, visible water damage, and basic wear and damage throughout that is simply ridiculous for a hotel charging premium rates and operating under a Hilton-affiliated brand.
