Higuerón Hotel Málaga, Curio Collection by Hilton

Such a beautiful hotel just let down with some really annoying policy's and rules making this place not child friendly nor is it suitable for anyone with mobility issues. The hotel was a special treat we booked a duplex suite it was stunning it really was but sadly the customer interactions with staff let this place down. On check in it was slow to get anyone nobody manning the front desk at 7pm eventually after a very slow process we got the keys but not offered any help with luggage. We were told nothing about the hotel but we were asked to scan a QR code for everything which was more than useless as it didn't tell you hardly anything you needed to know. No map of hote given l and with lifts that only go to different floors and levels and no signs means we got lost in this hotel most days it's very poorly thought out how you get to restaurants and pools.we resorted to using fire exits as couldn't get to pools for example as doors were locked. The pools ! Wow where do I start the roof top is Adults only and not over 16 allowed like signage states . A angry man runs the roof top bar who advised us only adults could use it plus we had to reserve beds ahead and it would cost us 100 euros to use the pool! No thanks it's simply not worth it. No wonder the 2 times we went it was empty. The indoor pool you had to book to use it again no thanks im on holiday I want to do pool when I choose not book ahead with a schedule. The downstairs pool had a very angry towel man who we interacted with twice and he was rude each time, miserable on his phone listening to music on headphones and not accommodating. There were empty sun loungers but only Is and he refused to offer to help us get 3 beds together, this place is not full yet the pool only has 30 sun loungers so every one is taken meaning you cannot use that pool, plenty of space for more sun loungers but apparently they did t have any. The upstairs pool at med restaurant was much nicer as had atmosphere , there is no music in bottom pool and no atmosphere either nobody talked at all everyone very miserable all very odd but we enjoyed a lovely time at the med pool and the bar staff were lovely. The food in the med restaurant at dinner and breakfast was just lovely couldn't fault food and the whole hotel is clean and immaculate condition. Wouldn't bother with the bus shuttle as it does not run in evenings only every hour and takes 1 hour to get to the beach which we could walk it in 25 mins. The hotel could be 5* if the service improved it's a lovely facility but just no bubbly atmosphere the staff didn't seem to want to be there and it was clear some big improvements could easily be made. There are no bars or restaurants within walking distance so recommend having a car or you end up with using a lot of taxis . The hotel was also sold to us as having a beach club that's open all year round on the poster and brochure but it's actually opening on 5th June 26 for summer season, I will report this to travel agent as the hotel is sold as having a beach club yet it didn't when we stayed. Thanks for the memories but we wouldn't come back due to silly rules and errors made throughout certainly not 5 star standard. Bathrooms were needing some tlc, toilet seats broken, grouting needed doing it just looks tired in places .

On a positive note, the cleaning teams throughout the property do a fantastic job, the place is absolutely spotless, and the building itself is lovely. Unfortunately, the standard of customer service is falling well short. ​The reception desk is regularly left unattended, and upon arrival, nobody offered to assist with our luggage, which really should be standard practice when checking into a duplex apartment. Restaurant service is equally lacking; we recently waited 5 to 7 minutes just to be seated and eventually had to walk to the kitchen ourselves to find a member of staff. The pool area is also disappointing, with staff failing to manage the issue of guests reserving sunbeds with towels for hours without actually using them. ​To top it off, avoid the hotel shuttle service, you are much better off walking. We took the bus yesterday from outside the property to the beach club and railway station. We chose to walk from the beach club, while another guest took the shuttle to the train station. It is a simple 5-10 minute walk down hill to beach club and 2 min further walk to station yet the shuttle trip took a staggering 45 minutes because the driver kept getting off for 10-minute rests at multiple stops. The other guest finally met us 15 minutes after we had already bought our train tickets. ​Compliments to the housekeeping staff for their hard work, but management seriously needs to address the attentiveness and efficiency of the rest of the team.

Das beach Club war die ganze Zeit geschlossen. Obwohl auf der aseute steht dass es offen ist. Nur am Freitag wurde geöffnet und die wollten dann für die Liegen am Strand 20 Euro pro Liege haben. Ich finde das unverschämt bei den Geld was ic bezahlt habe

Bedroom was small and the bathroom was weirdly positioned offering little privacy. Bath was very strangely half in the bathroom and halfway in the bedroom. One door shared between the shower and toilet - very odd. Wardrobe was tiny and the door handle broken. No shelves or drawers anywhere for clothing. Access to the infinity pool on the top floor was restricted. A sun-bed there cost 50 euros per day to hotel guests!! The shuttle to the beach takes half an hour to get there as it goes around the houses first. No where did they specify that the hotel is on an extremely steep hill. Almost impossible to walk up to it. The beach is a good 20 minute walk down. The restaurants on the beach were little more than fast food. Very disappointing. No. I would not return there. This hotel is meant to be 5 star. I think that only applies to the guests in the VIP tower. To all others - it’s barely a 4 star hotel
