Secrets Vallarta Bay Puerto Vallarta - All Inclusive

Visit was marred by recent cartel activity. Activities, food, and drinks were limited for several days due to that. All that said, I would visit Puerto Vallarta and Mexico again, even if it isn't this resort. We were inconvenienced and did not get what we paid for, but always felt safe. Ultimately that is all that matters! Club was NOT worth it at this location. Views are actually better from the main building. We were never able to have a single preferred breakfast or dinner due to the staffing issues. I don't know if Secrets has changed this overall, but you used to get better bathroom products in a preferred room. They just had the basic Hyatt soap bolted to the walls. Most days I would get a text with listing of daily activities and which restaurants were open, that was helpful. This is a smaller footprint resort with everything packed in. The pool was loud every day, no escaping the music. Lots of beach sellers who will harass you if you are even near the edge not to mention sitting on the beach. There were weddings or events late most nights which meant we needed to keep our balcony closed and sound machine on to drown out the noise. The only quiet night was the day with fires /unrest when the wedding got cancelled! Resort was built in 2012 so getting older, but it was clean and property was maintained. Room amenities worked and bed/pillow were comfortable.

We had an outstanding stay at this resort. The service was AMAZING. We've been to multiple all-inclusive resorts in many locations, and this one had the BEST service of all of them. There were some unexpected societal events which occured during our stay, but the staff was outstanding, the hotel adjusted to the situation and handled it expertly. I am ready to go back!

My visit was for a wedding of two dear, close friends. The product of the wedding itself was excellent and despite a couple of incidents with the wind, it was perfect! The property is beautiful and well appointed. Staff is definitely on point.

Our stay started off on the wrong foot. As Hyatt members, we expected a warmer welcome, but instead we were told the staff wasn’t ready to check us in and were sent to have a drink. When they finally checked us in, they immediately attempted to upsell us on a room upgrade that would have doubled our nightly rate ($644 to $1,299). I would normally consider a small upgrade, but the language barrier made the process confusing and off-putting. Right after that, we were also pitched UVC, which left us very annoyed. We also paid for the Preferred Club and were extremely disappointed in it here. The lounge was very small, with 2 tables and a bar. The food offerings were updated 3 times a day, but usually gone whenever we walked by. There was no TV, so disappointing, especially during the Olympics. There was only one bar on the entire resort where I saw any of the Olympics. The Preferred club offered no board games, or cards, and THE BIGGEST LET DOWN there was NO PREFERRED POOL like at other Secrets resorts. Our butler Alejandro was the only positive from the Preferred Club experience. I would not recommend paying for this upgrade. The resort layout was also frustrating—you had to take one elevator to your room in the Preferred Tower, another elevator just to reach the main lobby, and a third elevator to get to the spa. A simple walkway between the Preferred Club and the lobby would have made a big difference. Our first evening dinner was at Oceanina, overlooking the ocean, which was a nice introduction to the resort’s dining. I had a lobster tail that was cooked to perfection and truly enjoyed it. I also had lunch from Oceania at a cabana later in our stay, which was delicious and much faster than dinner service. One night we dined at the French restaurant. The escargot was my favorite dish, with the onion soup a close second, but my main entrée was uninspiring. Being asked to order dessert at the same time as our main course made us feel rushed. The servers were friendly, but overall, the food was not amazing. Another evening, we ate at Capers. It also has beautiful ocean views. I had a steak— it is hard to impress me with steak, but I did enjoy the cut and flavor. The wine kept flowing (which may explain why I don’t remember much else of the meal. My only complaint here was the inconveniently located restrooms in the basement—a long walk in high heels after two glasses of wine. The spa was honestly an expensive joke. The “water therapy” consisted of four jets, a sauna, a hot tub, and a cold plunge—far below what we’ve experienced at other resorts. They do not allow charges to your room (credit card only), which caused us to be late after needing to take three elevators back to our room to get our cards. This should be VERY clearly communicated when booking. Signage for the water therapy circuit was also poor. While the massage itself was good, it was absolutely not worth $300—the same quality massage can be found on the beach right next door for $45. The spa products and gift shops were also wildly overpriced. Let me say something about sunblock. The gift shop wants $825 MX for a spray bottle of sunblock. That is $48 USD. Do yourself a favor and bring extra. The OXXO or pharmacy is half that, but still double what you would pay if you bring it from home. On a positive note, Joel and the entertainment crew were fantastic. They had something planned every hour or so during the day. They remembered names, were genuinely friendly, and did a great job getting guests involved in activities—I even won movie trivia game! I didn’t attend many nighttime shows since I had to wake up early to secure pool chairs, making me an early-to-bed person. Overall, while there were a many enjoyable moments, this resort fell short in many areas.

This place is top notch. We travel frequently and did have a large suite close to the ocean on the third floor. Super staff in all areas. Excellent and abundant food choices and great location.

Everything was amazing. Christian, our butler was super attentive and helpful. Joel and Eliana by the pool cleaning and fixing sunglasses were superb. Fist time at a resort with sunglasses service, amazing addition. Zero complaints in the food department. Steal house at Oceana with a view of the ocean, sunset and whales going by was awesome. Fernando with drink service at the pool was great.

We just love this Secrets, with this trip being our 6th stay here! My husband and I went back for a week in January 2025, meeting some friends there. This resort is a short ride from the airport, and shares an entrance with Dreams. This gives you access to the Dreams restaurants, bars and entertainment as well as the Secrets. The staff here are amazing and the resort has a very laid back vibe! The lobby bar overlooks the bay and consists of an open area with a lot of tables, chairs and sofas to chill and enjoy a cold drink. Thank you Marlen for taking good care of us. The sunsets from this area are breathtaking! Our room was well tended to by housekeeping. We had fresh towels everyday and our room was well kept. Oceana is a great place to get breakfast (for Preferred guests only), lunch and dinner. If you time it right, you can have dinner while watching the sun setting over the ocean. All the waiters here were very good, thank you all! The Market Café is also surprising good for breakfast. You can get omelets and eggs cooked to order, as well as a huge variety of other sweet and savory dishes. The Barefoot Grill has a good selection of lunch dishes by the pool. We really like that the pool music is generally kept as background music, not blaring so much you can’t even think. The exception is when there are exercise/game activities. The Mexican restaurant, Tamarindo, has very good food. Our waiters Ignacio (Nacho to his friends!) and Abraham (what a singing voice!) made sure we had everything we needed. We had remembered them from our last visit in 2025. These two waiters make quite the team; thank you gentlemen! Ironically when we went to the lobby after dinner, we caught the tail end of a Mariachi Band playing throughout the Secrets and Dreams lobbies. I got my crepe fix at Sweet Bites, where you can get the most delicious crepes and ice cream. So good! Bordeaux, the French restaurant, is one of our favorites. Unfortunately, my appetizer and entrée was not up to par. Everyone else really enjoyed their dishes. Thank you to our waiter, Joaquin, at Himitsu. He provided excellent service and we had a wonderful meal here. A couple of bonuses while staying at this Secrets – you can watch whales from the beach here. It is so exciting to see the babies and mamas play. You can also walk to the Malacon and enjoy the shopping and restaurants if you wish. Frequently there are performers as you walk along the boardwalk. My biggest con is the crazy number of people who reserve beach/pool lounge chairs early – I’m talking 6:00-6:30 in the morning. A lot of them don’t actually show up until 11:00 or later. VERY frustrating. We’ve been to a lot of Secrets and Dreams and this location is by far the worst for this rude behavior. Most resorts allow an absence of up to 1 hour – if you’re not back after that your items are removed. We wish that Hyatt would do a better job with their Hyatt Inclusive App. It’s supposed to inform you of where the entertainment and activities are, but it lacks a lot. A lot of the time the name of an activity may be listed, but it doesn’t tell you what the activity is or, in some cases, it doesn’t even tell you where it is. It’s hard to enjoy the activities and entertainment if we can’t find it. That said, we found that entertainment at this location has been drastically reduced. Not a lot of shows and almost no craft activities. (The only one I could find was a painting class – at 8:00 in the evening. Come on Hyatt, people are eating at that time!)

Secrets Vallarta Bay is a beautiful, well maintained and appointed resort. It adjoins Dreams Vallarta Bay, which means a wide variety of outstanding dining, entertainment, and activities are at your fingertips. We chose to upgrade to a preferred club (PC) swim out and it was definitely worth it! The swim outs on that side are shaded all day, which means no fighting for chairs, umbrellas, etc. It also afforded easy access to the pools and hot tubs in full sun, when we wanted that. Manuel kept the drinks flowing poolside and was so much fun! Jose Maria at the PC bar was also great and introduced us to a chelate, our new favorite drink! Jose, the PC butler who helped us throughout our stay was outstanding. He addressed every need with speed and kindness, even helping to ensure we had a wonderful Dia San Valentin dinner in the Capers wine cellar (must do by the way!). If you go to Capers, ask for Francesco, as he was outstanding, knowledgeable, and ensured a perfect experience. Maria was our incredible housekeeping staff and not only did she do great work, she is one the kindest people there! Finally, check out the spa! The hydrotherapy circuit is unique and soooo relaxing. Our hydrotherapy valet, Michelle, was wonderful and even helped me navigate the hydro without my glasses as needed. Finally, Orfinda, the massage therapist I saw, was excellent and highly skilled, melting away stress like magic. While there always bumps, this resort deals with any issues that arise promptly and with care, which is what really matters to me. Highly recommend staying here and seeking out the incredible staff mentioned! I’d also highly recommend Canto Del Mar in town for some lovely seaside margaritas and snacks!

Just got back from 2 weeks at Secrets Vallarta Bay. Had a fabulous time. Still an amazing value for a 1 for 1 but have noticed a bit of a decline in the restaurants and goodies in the the room. This was our 4th year in a row at this time of year. The buffet for dinner is only open 1 night a week and it is a very tiny limited outdoor bbq. Each week when the dinner buffet is closed so is Oceana, the preffered steak house and Castaways. As you can imagine this made wait times at the other restaurants very long or you ended up at the Dreams buffet. Entertainment was lacking on some days for sure and after Superbowl absolutely nothing was going on so that was disappointing. Now on the plus side, the staff is amazing and friendly. Our butler Jose Becerra was fabulous and helped us out with dinner reservations( we were a group of 8 for a week then a group of 10 for the 2nd)he also checked in on us everyday and gave us the list of entertainment and restaurant closures. Alejandro our pool waiter and Hector behind the swim up bar were amazing.
