"Superb Service and Excellent Golfing"

10.0

Staff are very attentive to our needs. Lisa, the Supervising General Manager has her finger on the pulse. Our stay has been a very happy one. Notable good service worth mentioning today has been through Khalida who intuitively without us asking came over to us and dealt with a minor query. It showed us her dedication to professional customer service. As golfers we thoroughly enjoyed our 4-ball on a tip top championship course with excellent booking and buggy transfers from the hotel. However the state of the urinals in the gents golf course building and our experience at the clubhouse reception ought to be be improved.

"Warmest of people"

8.0

I spent two weeks at the Magdalena Grand Hotel and Golf Resort in Tobago and wanted to share my thoughts it turned out to be a really enjoyable stay. The resort sits along the Atlantic coast, which means you get wide ocean views and constant sea breeze. The beach in front of the hotel is public and open, but it’s not ideal for swimming because the water can get rough. The beach isn’t managed by the hotel. Even so, it’s great for a walk or for sitting quietly and watching the waves. The resort grounds are beautiful and very well maintained. Reginald stood out he takes immense pride in his work of maintaining the pool and surrounding areas. Everything looks neat and cared for, from the gardens to the walkways. My room was spotless, and cleaned daily, the bed was really comfortable with quality bedding. Some areas are being refurbished, which is normal for hotels this close to the sea and strong sun. The upgrades don’t interfere with the stay, and it’s clear the hotel is investing in keeping the property fresh. The best part of the stay was the staff. They’re warm, professional, and genuinely friendly, from the check in with Hollis, and those at the front desk. You feel taken care of in every part of the hotel. Donna, Diamond, and Natisha were wonderful at Salaka and the breakfast buffet. They always greeted guests with a smile and remembered preferences after the first day. Susan and Lysette, who supervise food and beverage, do an excellent job keeping everything running smoothly and making sure the service is consistent. Nigel at the pool bar kept things fun and relaxed, serving drinks with personality and professionalism. Kevin and Adanna at the Robinson Crusoe bar were also great! Really friendly, attentive, and easy to talk to. Lisa at the concierge desk was always ready to help, no matter the question. Tamara at the pro shop made sure the golf experience went smoothly. The golf course itself is a highlight. It’s challenging but beautiful, surrounded by greenery and plenty of wildlife, including birds and even Caiman. It’s one of those courses that feels both peaceful and exciting to play, again all the grounds team worked relentlessly The food across the resort was consistently good. Kalina’s served flavorful local dishes in generous portions, and the buffet breakfast had something for everyone—fresh fruit, local options, and the usual breakfast favorites, with amazing omelette made by Rachel Overall, the Magdalena Grand is a comfortable, well-run resort with a team of people who make you feel genuinely welcome. The grounds are lovely, the rooms are clean, and the service is top-notch. Even with some refurbishment underway and a wild Atlantic beach, the resort has a calm, friendly atmosphere that makes it easy to relax and enjoy your stay. I would definitely return.

"Hotel being poorly managed and not able to meet basic needs of guests"

2.0

If this review were based solely on the service staff and their efforts given a bad situation, this would be a 5 star review. Special mention to Lisa for graciously agreeing to print a few speeches for a wedding we were attending, she was very helpful. Now with respect to our 4 night stay starting 24-Sep-2025, 2 of the 4 nights we had no water in the room. The first night without water we were unable to shower, use the bathroom, etc until the following morning, after a day of sweating in the tremendous Tobago heat. The last night of our stay we came back from a wedding and again no water, could not shower, use bathroom, etc, the water did not come back the following morning either so we checked out. We asked on both occasions to be moved to a room with water and were told there were none. We also had to keep calling for updates on the water situation. Additionally the only source of lighting in the room was from the 2 bedside lamps, one of which was not working and was never repaired during the stay, so we had to deal with very poor lighting. There was a quality breakfast buffet offered with our package, and we did enjoy it, except for one of the mornings when they ran out of food and guests were upset - they seemed short staffed. Upon checking-out I reported all the issues to a lovely reception attendant Krystal, and asked what could be done given all the issues with our stay, to which she replied that no management was present and that she would pass the information to them that afternoon and they would call. Never got any calls and tried calling the hotel a few times but the calls would not go through.

"A Perfect Rustic Retreat with Fantastic Food & Warm Hospitality"

10.0

The Magdalena Grand Hotel and Golf Resort delivers a memorable and welcoming experience. The property sits on the Atlantic side of Tobago, along a striking stretch of coastline. The beach is public and naturally beautiful, with dark volcanic sand that gives it character. Because it faces the Atlantic, the surf can be rough and the water is not suitable for bathing. The sand, while distinctive, is coarse and not ideal for sunbathing. Still, the sound of the waves and the open ocean views add to the resort’s atmosphere and sense of place. Even with some areas under renovation, the resort remains clean, orderly, and pleasant to walk through. Every open space and garden shows care and attention. The landscaping is colorful, balanced, and well maintained, which makes the resort feel peaceful and well organized. The real strength of the Magdalena Grand is its people. The staff take pride in their work and treat every guest with genuine warmth. The service is consistent across the property, and each encounter feels personal. At the restaurants, Donna, Diamond, and Natisha deliver outstanding service. Whether at Salaka or during the buffet breakfast, they are attentive, kind, and always professional. They remember guest preferences, anticipate needs, and add a friendly touch that makes every meal enjoyable. Nigel at the pool bar brings energy and hospitality to his work. He prepares drinks efficiently, chats with guests, and keeps the bar area lively. Kevin and Adana at the Robinson Crusoe bar continue that same high level of service. Their friendliness and professionalism make every evening there relaxing and enjoyable. Lisa at the concierge desk is a key part of what makes the stay smooth. She handles requests quickly, gives accurate advice, and follows up to be sure everything goes right. Tamara at the pro shop is friendly and knowledgeable, making the golf experience even better. Reginald, who cleans and maintains the pool, works with steady dedication. His attention to detail keeps the pool area spotless and inviting throughout the day. The golf course is one of the resort’s best features. It is both challenging and scenic, with views of the coastline and plenty of local wildlife, including colorful birds and Caiman. The layout rewards skill and focus, and the course maintenance is excellent. Each round feels different and engaging. Dining at the resort adds to the experience. Kalina’s serves generous portions of local dishes with rich, authentic flavor. The buffet breakfast offers a broad selection, including tropical fruits, local favorites, and familiar international options. Every meal feels fresh, well-prepared, and satisfying. Even with some renovation work underway, the resort’s high level of cleanliness and the staff’s attention to detail stand out. The property is managed with pride and care. The Magdalena Grand offers a distinctive stay. The Atlantic views, the golf course, and the local cuisine all make it memorable, but it is the staff who define it. Their friendliness, professionalism, and consistent effort create a true sense of hospitality that makes every guest feel welcome.

"Fab hotel gone wrong"

4.0

This hotel has issues! It's old and needs LOTS of attention the building is only part used as the rest of it is unsafe and crumbling. The staff try hard but they are up against it. Food and beverage supply issues, the state of the place and mostly lack of water for rooms ie no showers or toilet flush. The staff even up against this though, are good. The food is well presented hot and nice, a little to much fried for me not good. Location is by the sea and on a golf course nothing else around but you can walk around freely. It's sad to see this once beautiful vibrant place looking tired necause it has so much potential

"Great Service"

8.0

I stayed at this hotel for three days. Renovations in the lobby area were taking place but this did not affect our experience. The rooms were clean but dated and there was a water challenge which was sorted out a few hours later. The staff were excellent, Mr Tefano and Mr Moore were very helpful and courteous . We were given a very late check out which is unheard of in the hotel industry. The lily ponds were something to behold, as well as the grounds and pools which are well- maintained. The birds and the ducks were also a lovely part of the experience. I think we got great value for our money. We were treated so well I will not hesitate to stay at this hotel when next I visit Tobago.

"Peaceful"

8.0

My family and I stayed at Magdalena in early October 2025 and had a truly enjoyable experience. The location was stunning, with beautifully maintained grounds — we especially loved the water lily pond at the front of the property. While the hotel’s common areas could use some updating, renovations were already underway during our visit. Both the hotel and our rooms were very clean, and the staff were warm, welcoming, and accommodating throughout our stay.

"Memorable Stay at Magdalena!"

8.0

I recently spent a weekend at Magdalena with a group of friends. The staff were as pleasant, courteous and helpful as always, and as I remember from previous visits. The breakfast was fabulous, offering a wide variety of food to choose from. I must make mention of the Karaoke night on the Saturday night at the Robinson Crusoe Pub. It was fabulous! This is a must if you are there. The talent and the atmosphere were electric! On this visit I also used the gym which is well equipped. I will definitely visit Tobago again and stay at the Magdalena. Regards AB Very satisfied visitor!

"Urgent upgrade and maintenance is needed."

4.0

Recently visited Magdalena for my daughter’s first birthday. Whilst we made the best out of it the air condition in the room did not work, the faucets in both the sinks and the tub were rusty and moldy, at one time the faucet in the tub came out while my daughter was turning it on. The back door could barely open as it was shut from the rust. The television in the room was there since 1996 with 6 working channels thank God I walked with my daughter’s tablet to keep her entertained whilst in the room. On the plus side the breakfast was amazing, really one of the best breakfast buffets that I have ever had and the staff is lovely !
