Purbeck House Hotel

We have stayed here before and love the position, so close to the town but set up the hill with great views. It is a beautiful, historic building set in lovely grounds with real class. We were lucky to have rooms at the back of Louisa Lodge, with balconies with great views over Swanage Bay. A really lovely stay in wonderful Swanage.

Lovely location and hotel. Easy access to Swanage beach and the high street, which was ideal for our stay. Hotel staff were really friendly and accommodating! We had a great stay. Hotel is quite dated, e.g. bathroom could do with updating and the beds were quite hard. All in all we had a great stay and would come back!

Love this place,booked fairly late, so limited selection of rooms,but was explained that they had a small but light and airy room available,and it was, lovely!Really good response from the reception,friendly and informative,room was clean,small but with dual aspects and blacony with views over Swanage to the sea.This place is special rooms,atmosphere great,shower and loo was en suite and small!Breakfast delcious.With this type of hotel you either get it or you don't,we got it,quirky,amazing history,wonderful wild gardens,beautiful lavender avenue,needs a little love here and there,but just absorb the place,so if you want a Premier Inn, this is not for you.

Fascinating, beautiful old building previously a Convent. Great parking which is unusual in Swanage and lovely gardens with deer. The staff were very friendly and helpful and fitted us in at the last minute for one night. Its location is perfect for easy walking to the pier and the town. Breakfast was fine, although perhaps the addition of a coffee machine for cappuccinos etc. would be useful.

I didn't like that we were charged for breakfast on the second day, (which we booked directly with the hotel , not on Expedia like the first day) when we didn't have it. Obviously the money was taken from our account before breakfast instead of waiting for the list to come from the dining room showing who had breakfast. Room and staff were lovely.

We have stayed in Swanage a number of times but Purbeck house will be our go to in future. Easy parking a great location and very friendly staff. We were in the lodge and the room was clean, well set up and comfortable. The main house was almost a history lesson with fascinating details including the old bells for staff to attend to. Where else on Swanage has large gardens as well as parking. No food except breakfast but the bar was open late and didn't mind if you wanted to bring in a takeaway.

All very nice although I think the property would benefit from a swimming pool ie built in the grounds where the old greenhouse is located

The hotel is "tired". Despite a great location the experience was bad. We has the suite with sea view. The room had a small velux above the bed and it is so old the wind was getting through making a whistling noise all night so didn't get much sleep also you can hear the next room people speaking.... So not recommended

Everything was perfect from the warm welcome at reception, the spacious comfortable rooms, the lovely garden through which we walked to reach Louisa Lodge, to the individualised breakfast. The slightly later-than-usual check out time suited us well. And maybe I shouldn't say this but as a group of senior cyclists we were delighted that we were allowed to take our bikes into our rooms. If I had one gripe it would be that the wifi signal was on the weak side, but we survived.

Rather tired hotel but central location. No restaurant for dinner. Breakfast only from 7:30 weekdays so not great if you need to get away and want a cooked breakfast. Staff friendly and helpful. Pillows as hard as concrete, not the best for a good nights sleep
