Purbeck House Hotel

This hotel was really lovely full of history, charm and character. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was great we had room 3 which had a small balcony so we could sit outside with a view of the sea and watch the world go by. The breakfast was good plenty of choice. The beach, shops and restaurants are all a short walk away. We enjoyed our stay there and we would definitely stay there again.

After marrying at the Purbeck Hotel, and having an amazing day, we ditched our normal motorhome accomodation to fast forward almost 26 years to the day to stay here again. It still has the same quirky charm, and John Burt'tastic stone mason salvages a-plenty, and gave us the peace and fantastic night's sleep we were craving. Married with amazing weather, convenience for town, a room looking out towards Swanage Bay, and beautiful sunrises, we had a lovely weekend 👍

Another great stay in perbeck house, I would highly recommend this hotel, staff are so friendly and very helpful, excellent breakfast, loads of parking spaces, the rooms are very clean and the beds are so comfortable Great night's sleep, this hotel is in the centre of swanage very close to the beach, shops and restaurants Great stay as always,

We stayed here for three nights & the hotel is a fabulous historic building with lovely grounds. Positive points - plenty of parking, very close to the seafront, good size room, lovely staff. Negatives (although I don't like to, I think it might help someone else) - we stayed in Room 3. We paid (what I now think was) a premium price compared to all the other rooms. Rooms 3 has a small balcony which looked lovely in the pictures. In fact the view was OK but mostly was the rubble-strewn areas from what we were told was a damaged conservatory were in sight. The water pressure in the shower was woeful however having stayed previously in older buildings we understand that updating these systems is costly. The noise from the High Street went on until the early hours with people shouting constantly outside the building. It was carnival week which may have attributed to more noise than normally but if you're a light sleeper avoid this room! There is also the Town Hall just down the road with an hourly chiming clock... We had breakfast on our first morning which was slightly underwhelming & as we don't eat a lot usually for breakfast we didn't have it again. I think we would stay here again however it would be in one of the garden facing (cheaper) rooms or in the Lodge.

This is the third year that we have stayed at The Purbeck House Hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The Hotel is very close to both the centre of Swanage and the beach.

I have stayed in the Purbeck House Hotel for many years and would not stay anywhere else in Swanage. it is a family run hotel with a fascinating history being once the home of George Burt and then a convent school. The staff are always helpful and friendly, the gardens are beautiful and it is in the High Street so close to many independent shops and restaurants and a short walk from Swanage Railway Station, the bus station, the Mowlem Theatre and the beach. This hotel has everything you could possibly want and I will be staying there at least twice more this year.

Duvets and pillows could be feather stuffed to improve the sleeping experience.

Too near the road, difficult to sleep and relax with noise,

We stayed in a Louisa Lodge room at the Purbeck. We had a balcony with sea view. Very comfortable, no complaints! We had family staying in self catering accommodation nearby, and to be honest it was nice to leave the chaos and go back to the hotel at the end of the day! This hotel is very conveniently located for the town, beach, pubs & restaurants. Also for taking a walk to Durlston country park, a lovely walk. All in all we had a very nice time.
