Purbeck House Hotel

Purbeck Hotel is full of local history. The rooms are spacious, quiet and comfortable. The reception, bar and breakfast staff are very courteous and helpful. It was a wonderful place to rest after a long day of walking in beautiful Purbeck.

I didn’t t think old British seaside hotels like this still existed. Great location and lovely looking main house but that’s where the positives end. The room was very tired, the garden over grown and the breakfast was truly awful. It was very hard to pick your way through and find fresh things to eat. All in all very run down and in need of major investment.

Very nice hotel, lots of history and really nice features. Staff are very friendly and super helpful. We have booked to go back again.

Ideally situated and in very pleasant grounds in centre of Swanage. Room in Louisa Lodge was bright and airy with a sea view. Very comfortable. We stayed four nights and a good breakfast buffet was provided on first two days. Then breakfast was cooked to order, but the restaurant staff didn't appear to have a system to ensure our order was taken and delivered in a timely way. After a long wait we gave up waiting for it to appear. The final day breakfast was cooked to order again and it was very tasty, this time the staff were much better at ensuring the meal arrived at our table quite quickly.

Good hotel in delightful Victorian building, well located for the town and with ample free parking. Comfortable rooms and friendly staff.

The hotel is very well located just a short walk to shops, restaurants etc the station and the beach. Good atmosphere. The room was of a good size. However the toilet was badly located as it was very close to the wall and difficult to manoeuvre. Value was good. The room could have done with a dust as there was cobwebs and dust on the walls and ceiling. Satisfied with the noise level. Service at reception and at breakfast was good. The first day the full English breakfast buffet was not offered, but it was possible to order a full English with a choice of eggs. The other days fried egg only was offered with the buffet and it was not made clear if other eggs could be ordered. Did not make use of other amenities.

Probably the best hotel in town and an interesting building. Good accommodation, free parking and well located. We stayed in room 10 - possibly the largest room and were very pleased with our one night stay as part of a week long tour.

We stayed in a beautiful, large room on the 2nd floor in Louisa Lodge. It really was delightful with amazing sea views, a large bed & tea & coffee making facilities as well as an en-suite bathroom with a shower over the bath. The main hotel also has a bar. Its location is perfect - just a short walk up the hill from Swanage town centre, added to which there is private parking which is a massive bonus in a seaside town. The reception staff were extremely polite & helpful both when checking in and out. The disappointment was the continental breakfast. It was uninspiring and not particularly well laid out - it almost felt like a school canteen. A bigger choice of bread, pastries and fruit would have been appreciated as well as maybe some cheese and cold meat as is normal with a continental breakfast choice? The cooked breakfast had plenty of choice and was popular amongst the diners. Despite this disappointment, we would love to stay in Louisa Lodge again should we visit the lovely seaside town of Swanage.

We have recently stayed at Purbeck House Hotel and really enjoyed our stay. We had a room at the top of the house, at the back, overlooking the lovely gardens. The room was clean with plenty of storage space. While we were there, we had a couple of issues with the room but these were dealt with quickly and efficiently. There is plenty of parking and the location is good. Just to add, we didn’t have breakfast at the hotel. We would definitely go back.

First time in Swanage. Stayed in Louisa Lodge in the lovely gardens of The Purbeck House Hotel Good situation for town and beach and free parking. Our room was clean and comfortable and the staff were lovely. Would certainly book again.
