Sherwood Guest House

We had a very nice time. The room was a little small but it was in beautiful condition and had everything we needed. Vivienne was an excellent hostess with great tips about the city.

Good location 25 minutes walk from city centre. Very clean. Good value for money.

We spent 4 nights at Sherwood Guest House and were totally satisfied. Vivian keeps a very clean place and was always there with helpful advice about local pubs and attractions. 25 minute walk to Edinburgh castle and close to Arthur seat trail. Breakfast was generous with eggs, cheese, meats, fruits, breads and other stuff. Thank you Vivian for making our stay so enjoyable! Neil & Velma

Vivienne is amazing. I can’t say enough good things about her. She is extremely knowledgeable about Edinburgh and I trust her recommendations entirely. Everything she told us about was spot on. She is funny and engaging and my only complaint would be that I didn’t see enough of her! Breakfast is a large spread including meats and cheese, yogurt, croissants, and rolls, fruit, and cereal. She delivers fresh coffee and tea to the dining room, and there is juice as well. The facilities are clean, and anything that is missing Vivienne will happily get or supply. My mother and I arrived before check in time, but she allowed us to drop our bags off so that we could enjoy the city without lugging them around. The guest house is right on a bus line, and an easy 30 minute walk from the Royal Mile if you are someone who likes to explore on foot. Highly recommend.

Absolutely delightful! From the moment I arrived it felt like home. Sherwood Guest House is the cleanest place in Edinburgh! It's right on the bus line, or a 10 minute walk into the heart of it all. Do it!! Stop your search...you can't go wrong. I hate telling everyone to come here, because next time I visit I'm afraid it will be booked! This place is absolutely FANTASTIC. Stay here, feels like home. Close to all sites, public transportation, and eats.

Room was far too small with little storage. Every effort had been made to provide other facilities.

Lovely host, breakfast was very yummy and fresh, room comfortable and very clean.

Room was a little snug - it’s an old building tastefullly modified though - nice view over gardens. Very good amenities and friendly welcome. Happy for us to leave bags pre and post check in so very convenient. 10 min walk from city centre - very clean - tea coffee biscuits replenished daily - fridge and safe in room - ample continental breakfast

Vivienne has done a wonderful job with the Sherwood Guest House. Completely renovated, the room was large, comfortable, and had the services of a large hotel but with a personal touch. The neighborhood is great as well, especially when you want a local restaurant selection and not the craziness of downtown Edinburgh. I highly recommend it!!
