"Nice hotel very close to downtown"

very good front desk personal , they'll pick you up at the airport for free but you have to let them know, in my case since I went from airport to train at machupicchu they agreed into take me at check out to the airport for free even they shouldn't . The owner took me to an artisanal ice cream place without me asking him that got me for a very good surprise after I got not a good ones with some Peruvian people.. Be careful with taxi rip offs with taxis at the airport and train station

"Elegant homey hotel in Cusco center"

This was a lovely hotel, that appears to be owned by an 83 year old proprietor named Juan. I booked for two nights, and the room was very elegant with an upgraded television. I was able to plug an HDMI cable and stream movies from it. The breakfast is served... and not very well, this is the major downside. The eggs were decent but runny, and service was not the best. Peruvians are not known for service though. The son(?) of Juan - Juan Carlo appears to be the manager, and is very nice, if somewhat ingenuine. Overall it felt like a large four story bed and breakfast. If you can get a wonderful deal like $34 like i did very worth it. Full price I would have paid $50 at the hotel, and I had to pay half that to check out at 3pm instead of the required 9AM. Early check out makes it a little inconvenient. Spanish only, Juan Carlo does speak SOME english, but not much
