Grand Hotel La Tonnara

We stopped over here for 2 nights on way down from Sorrento to Sicily. It was off the beaten track, hence difficulty finding decent places to eat. The room was nice and private beach great however a bit like school being told we had to use a specific sun bed and likewise in the dining room a specific table. Given the difficulty the staff has understanding our English we gathered this hotel was mainly used by Italians which made us feel a bot unwelcome. The hotel lacked any atmosphere day or night. The girl who checked us in and the girl on the snack bar were very pleasant and helpful but the same cannot be said for the dining or breakfast staff, we were just a room number. No bar, or tea/coffee facility in room was a big negative. Not sure how this hotel got 4 star rating.

The hotel offers a great views and comfort in the room The only down side is the inconvenience of getting to the hotel if your using public transport, the hotel sits 3km outside of Amentea with a bus at 7am and 2pm passing through that you could get to the hotel I asked around the town for taxis it seemed unheard of Admittedly my italian is not so strong, there is a beach front walk there which I did but had heavy luggage so was a bit of a struggle. The hotel offers a collect and drop off service at a cost of €10 ago rather expensive. But saying all that if you have your own transport would be easy.

Beach hotel that definitely earns it's 4 stars. Great food, staff and facilities. Rooms are very well maintained and very clean with added touches such as new towels every day. Beach towels and beach club umbrellas and deck chairs included in room price. Great sunset views over the Med. 35 minutes from Lamezia airport and 2 kms from town of Amantea.

The check in was swift and informative, they provide a chipped card for your stay with 30euros to use on the beach and the bar so you don't need to bring your wallet. It's about 25-30 minutes from the airport. The staff was really nice and helpful, one of the waiters in the restaurant lived in Toronto and speaks fluent english, was of great help. the beach is RIGHT across the small street and the hotel has reserved chairs and parasols waiting for you and they provide beach towels at the front desk. It's a great beach, but bring water shoes because the current isn;t very strong and it's more so pebbles than sand. the rool was just right and the BATHROOM is everything!

This is an excellent hotel for the price you are paying. Excellent room, excellent staff and excellent food. Breakfast is also remarkable. I recommend it to anyone who wants to stay some days at Amantea. Very good choice. Congratulations to the managment.

We thought this was a lovely hotel. The only thing that was slightly disappointing was the food.

Arrived late after a long trip from overseas. Delighted with the classy comfortable room overlooking the sea!Wine delivered to our room. Breakfast included was also very good with lots of choices. We were glad we did not arrive much later for breakfast since there was a large group of soon graduating high school seniors who quickly wiped out the buffet!

Good hotel

Great outdoor space to lounge and have a drink. Staff was extremely helpful. Room and baths large and comfortable. Nice terrace for private outdoor space. Very clean. Great pool. Good breakfast.

Great hotel and location. directly across the street from the beach. Get an ocean view room, you won't regret it. Beautiful sunsets right from your balcony. Great breakfeast with lots of choice, ceral, cold cuts, fruit, and sweets. Amazing pool. And the price is so cheap compared to the rest of Italy.
