Hotel Gran Quitumbe

There is nothing to do here. Add $10 to the alleged price of the room. They charge you for everything. $2 per person to use the wifi. They charge for shampoo. No smoking anywhere on the premises and it's a dangerous area. The rooms are cold, the shower is lukewarm. Walking distance to the bus station, which is the only place to eat. They have a mini bar in the room with chips & sodas. I ate a bag of chips and left the .75 cents, which they squabbled over at 5:30 am saying I didn't leave enough change. Ended up giving them more change just to get out of there. Not worth it.

Great location. A short walk to the Quitumbe bus terminal. I spent one night at the hotel on my way from the Quito Airport to Cuenca. Room was at the right price, big enough, clean, bed comfortable and free WiFi. Staff were friendly. Would I stay there again? Sure. It’s probably the most convenient place to stay if you are moving on from Quito due to its proximity to the bus station.

Great location near the Quitumbe bus terminal. The rooms were cozy and clean. The staff was friendly. We were able to check in at 1 in the morning. It was a sweet hotel. This was our first time in Ecuador and we stayed here our first night. We loved it here. They had bottled water in the lobby too.”

Having googled hotels near Quitumbe en-route, we found this one, though actually, we seemed to go past quite a few, so you could probably just ask a taxi driver to take you to one. Don't book in advance. We did, on a hotel booking website, and were quoted 49usd which we just accepted as it was late at night and we just wanted to know we had somewhere. However, the hotel rate is 35USD if you just turn up, and they have loads of rooms. It's a bit noisy - and we were serenaded by the sounds of sex, so perhaps its location also lends itself to Quitos oldest profession too - but you would only ever stay here one night, because the bus station is the only attraction, which you can walk to in 5/10 mins easily.

There was no hot water and we were told to keep it on for 5 minutes and it would get there. We waited 20 minutes and never had any, so we decided to wait until we were at the next hotel since we got in late. We asked for a wake up knock since we had a flight and they knocked 22 minutes after they were supposed to. Thank goodness my cel phone woke me up.I would never stay there again.

Except for the South (Quitumbe) Bus Terminal there is nothing in the area. I stayed here because I was leaving the next day on a bus for the south regions of Ecuador and it is an easy walk, even with luggage, to the station. The room was quite small but the staff quite courteous. Because of nothing in the area I ended up eating a few of the snacks placed in the room and there was a moment of confusion when I explained I had already paid the other gentleman the required price.

Very nice hotel near the Quitumbe bus terminal. This is the reason I stay here to catch an early morning bus south. Staff very helpful. I requested an airport pick-up. They were there waiting for me. Nice vehicle. Have stayed here three other times and will no doubt be there again. One item of concern: I am sure I had left something of value in my room upon leaving. They said they did not find it. I will leave it at that.

The property is located in a strategic location near the bus station in Quito, which allowed me to meet many attractions like the Cotopaxi Volcano, Otavalo, Quito and then take my bus right there to go to the city Banos. The staff is very attentive, I was given many indications maps sightseeing, visiting places efficiently and get the most out of my time, room was very clean and spotless bathroom, would recommend to a friend.

First the good - the room was clean, it is a 5 minute walk to the bus station. Wifi worked fine. The not-so-good - there is nothing in the neighborhood around this place. We arrived at night, and there is literally no place to get food. We had to buy some chips and bread at the bus station. There is no hot water. The bad - We had to wake up early to catch our bus to Banos. It seemed as though there was no one staying at the hotel. Unfortunately that was not the case - around 2am people started talking, fairly loudly, and the voices carried all through the hotel. This went on for at least 20 minutes before it stopped. Pretty terrible. There was obviously no attempt by staff to quiet things down. Have no idea if it was hotel guests, or staff, or whatever, but regardless it ruined our sleep. Also - place seems kinda pricey for what you get. This is not a central location and the hotel is pretty basic. However there are not many options near the bus station. If you need a place to stay for a night and you need to be near the bus station - this place will do.

We chose this hotel for the proximity to the bus station (we arrived late at night and left early the next morning for Banos). The hotel wasn't dirty, but it was dingy, dark, and unwelcoming. I'm glad we only stayed there for one evening.
