The Barrington Arms Hotel

Everything was perfect lovely staff

This hotel is located in the centre of Shrivenham high street and convenient to drive to Cotswold while offering a reasonable rate. There are plenty of parking at the rear of the hotel for the guests. All staff we met were friendly and helpful. The room we stayed in is Barrington suite which offers a double bed and a sofa bed, perfectly for us with 2 young children and our dog.

The hotel didn’t do dinner on Sunday night so we had to get the closest Indian takeaway. There was no cooked breakfast on Monday morning but the continental breakfast is fresh and nice. The one thing put me off is we messaged the hotel to confirm we are two adults with 2 children and the dog. I asked if this room fits us all and if not I can book two rooms. The hotel confirmed me via booking.com message as this is no problem. There was no issue at all at check in and check out. My husband doubled checked with the receptionist if we owe them anything and the answer was NO. Hours after arriving home, I received a message from them via booking.com claiming we owe them £45 for the children and dog. I told them to send me the invoice and I will pay. However, this really added negative impression out of all the perfect experience. I just hope the staff will take care of the booking bill more carefully in the future to avoid the hassle to the guests.

Despite having forewarned them I was vegan, breakfast was not set up to accommodate. However, there was a lovely lady serving breakfast who sorted something out for me and took the time to ask what would have been good for me.

We knew this was a public house hotel on booking so were prepared for noise from customers. We couldn't eat there in the evening because of a DJ setting up for a summer party and the arrival of partygoers everywhere. That was a shame but we stayed away until it finished which was by 11pm. Just the customer noise, even without the music, in the garden could be a problem for other guests though.

Fantastic place to stay. Everyone attentive, friendly and helpful and dog friendly. Excellent breakfast, extensive continentalplus full english at weekends. Room opens directly onto courtyard amd garden which was great for the dog. Lovely comfortable bed.

Staff were friendly, hard-working, very helpful and professional. Our room was immaculate. Breakfast was excellent. Will definitely return.
