A good basic hotel on the outskirts of York. Lovely breakfast using quality ingredients. Will stay again

The hotel was basically a pub with rooms totally staff run - but very well. Rooms were of a reasonable size but clean and reasonably comfortable. There were some things that needed closer attention to detail to make it "perfect" . Shower room needs some work as has mold in corners, shower leaked and got floor wet Pub food was good and plentiful and reasonably priced

Excellent breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. Garden and play area for children.

Great stay and value for money!

We picked this hotel for a one night stop over on route from Kent to Scotland and must say what a pleasant relaxed hotel it is. The room was clean and was excellent value for money. All the staff were very friendly and professional. Food wise the evening meal was fantastic and great value for money, breakfast was included in the room price and very nice indeed. All in all a really nice relaxing experience which is just what we needed to refresh us for our onward journey to the Highlands of Scotland. Would we stay again, 100% yes.

The hotel itself was very good and the food good. However, after we ordered our main course we waited nearly about half an hour and asked for an update on when our meal was to arrive and were advised that it was on its way. When I noticed that a couple who arrived after us had not only been served before us but had finished their main course I asked for the manager. I stated that my wife and I had been waiting nearly an hour and was advised that we should have been informed of the delay. We were not. I questioned how someone else had been served before us and was told that they had pre-ordered. I asked how I could pre-order when I hadn't seen the menu. No opologies were forthcoming and I got the distinct impressing that I was a nuisance! I wont be going to this hotel again!

We were in York to visit our son in Uni.To be honest, this hotel was too far out of York for Us. We still enjoyed the stay though.

Spent one night here whilst visiting York Outlet centre and Xmas market. Rooms are in purpose built building separate from pub with ample free parking. Restaurant food was superb with good menu choice and specials board, with excellent breakfast in the morning.
