"Enjoyable stay, but a walk in shower in the bathroom would have been great."

7.0

Breakfast and dinner were enjoyable and the staff were very good and pleasant, we payed for a larger room and it was and the views are very pleasing. The bed was lovely and clean and comfortable.

The bathroom had nowhere to put our toiletries and the bath with the shower is not very accessible to elderly guests. The tea making cabinet is still the same as it was years ago when we stayed and is still rather unsafe and needs updating. The tall girl on reception could have been more welcoming being the first contact with the hotel, however all the other staff were wonderful.

"The most wonderful stay of our trip."

10.0

LOVED it. From the moment we walked in we felt special. The young ladies at the desk were charming and efficient. It's easy to find and the location is superb right next to the beautiful Dryburgh abbey ruins and the River Tweed. The parking is ample, right at the hotel. It's not on the road, so it's quiet as a mouse, except for beautiful sounds of nature. An enchanting building with ample history. Scottish style with turrets and the local red sandstone. Gorgeous! The room we stayed in may have been the best in the house - the Tweed room, for the view of the river, top floor. It was stunning. Spacious, with an amazing view and amply provided for. If you're looking for all the mod cons - fridges, safes, etc, you may be disappointed, if you're after character, charm, excellence, comfort and a view - a true Scottish hospitality experience, you'll be delighted. Soem people are never happy. Most hotels don't even come close to the beauty of this one. Not everything is painted perfectly, nor every hinge in place, but if you want that, go and stay at a dodgy Best Western. This is Scotland, and this buiding is historic. It's elegant and we loved it. The bar and seating area for the restaurant was gorgeous, there is also a cocktail room where we enjoyed pre dinner drinks. The bar staff were delightful, everyone so friendly. We felt so welcome and comfortable. Every window opens onto a lovely vista. We were lucky with the weather. We ambled down to the beautiful river, gorgeous. of course we visited the ruins as well, spending 2 hours there on the lovely grounds. Dinner had been booked and we enjoyed a wonderful meal. On time, delicious, and plentiful. Beer great. The bed was divine, and the seating in the room very welcome. It was just a lovely visit all around,w ith helpful staff, and a glorious atmosphere, full of Scottish decor and tradition. Thankyou for our stay.

"A set from Outlander!"

10.0

Beautiful Scottish hotel situated in grand grounds right next to the river Tweed. It was like walking in to a Scottish TV program - something like Outlander or Braveheart. Staff are warm and friendly and this is what sets this hotel apart from others on our trip. Big friendly chap on reception that was extremely helpful and waiting staff that would do anything for you - genuinely interested in what you were doing in the area.

"Overall we enjoyed it very much, staff were lovely were great"

8.0

The property is situated in beautiful grounds with walks and the abbey ruins close by. It is a beautiful building located close to Melrose & St.Boswell both lovely to visit. The hotel is very traditional and comfortable and our room was very spacious.

I didn’t realise it was a pet friendly hotel and therefore lots of dogs staying. I think that should be made more obvious. The bathroom needed updating and decorating. It wasn’t clean enough for me and the coffee/tea area was inadequate. No mugs! Breakfast was mediocre I asked for an omelette and was kindly refused! The bar meal average and expensive.
