We really enjoyed our stay at Marina Elite, having read some bad reviews before we went, we had lowered our expectations and thought it was a good price what ever the outcome. We were pleasantly surprised, the sea views are probably what make it! We were travelling with a 4 and 2 year old. The hotel was clean, and room was cleaned well, the food in the main restaurant was very good, plenty to choose from and we never went hungry. The restaurant was busy but we didn’t have to wait for a table and the staff work really hard to keep everything stocked up . We only used the children’s pool area and it kept our kids entertained. We always managed to get a sun-bed and often went in the afternoon. The location is in the middle of no where but it’s about half a mile to Anfi beach which is great and lots to do with a beautiful beach, you can also get the ferry from there to Mogán which is well worth a visit. Porto Rico has a nice shopping centre (up the hill) and is a short bus or taxi ride. The reception staff were always helpful. Yes, it has its niggles - some of it needs updating and a bit of TLC it could look so much better! The beach bar food was cold and a bit disappointing and the lack of entertainment. (We were expecting that though having read other reviews). There is a lot of steps and walking from one part of the hotel to the other but without that you wouldn’t get the views! I think for the price you can’t really complain. If you want 5* then you need to pay for it. We would definitely return. Final note - if travelling with children, jet2 told us if you travel via taxi you need baby seats. I can’t comment for small babies but we had no problems getting a taxi and most had a booster seat available for my younger one.

The rooms are a little dated but not a problem, it was perfectly adequate for our 5 night stay. The view from the balcony over looking the sea was exceptional, we were on the 10th Floor which was road level ! There was a lift to the bottom and the beach bar was quite something and the beach bar was an amazing place. After reading some reviews there are some moans and groans about particular items but you just have to deal with them. When we arrived the snack bar had closed at the top pool so we had to go to the on site store to gets snacks before dinner. The shop is well stocked and a great on site addition. Our late arrival is not the hotel fault it was the number of stops before our hotel. We stayed at the bottom pool all week and only went to the top pool on the first day. The bottom pool is very relaxed and quiet with its bar. I have read the top pool is quite noisy but we didn't go there during the day so cannot say for sure. In the restaurant it was busy and we had to queue outside some days and the queue moved quickly. The restaurant manager was in control and directing each family to a table dependant on size and the in restaurant staff ensured you arrived at the correct table. Sometimes we were able to walk straight in and decide ourselves but only when it was quieter and when the restaurant manager did not need to direct families. Our family found the food of a very high quality. Breakfast generally the same items each day, fruit, cereal, toast, and british items such as bacon, sausage, eggs etc. Lunch and evening meal was something different every day. Always hot, apart from salad items obviously, and chefs attentive changing the tray once it had run out. Complaints about availability of plates and cutlery in reviews. Yes there were times when this happened and they ran out but the staff work hard and replenish as soon as they can. I found plates by the show cooking for example when others were stood waiting in other areas. Like any hotel, think on your feet, and look at all available spaces ! Complaints also about coffee machines. The machines are slow you cannot help this. There are three machines and you get the drink within a reasonable time. I loved the on site cats, they were very popular with the guests. I counted at least six cats and all very de-sensitised. With their "cat house" it was nice to see them after a day sunbathing. We only went to the top bar once for the evening on a night where there was no entertainment so cannot comment on this. Our go to was the beach bar on the ground floor. Beautiful relaxed atmosphere with amazing paintings of past rock/popstars and really nice seating. A special shout out to Marco who was an amazing bar member who remembered our drinks and started to prepare them on our arrival to the bar. So, on reflection, the staff work very very hard. In the majority friendly and there to make your stay a good one. Would we come back? 100% yes. Its a 3 star and if you book this you should expect a 3 star nothing more nothing less.
