"Apartment 152 - halfway up the hill!"

6.0

We arrived early March to find the weather pleasantly warm. Boy, is this a hilly resort - not good for anyone with mobility problems. Although there are lifts, they might be out of order or not reach all the floors you need to get to. Our apartment, although basic, was adequate, clean and spacious. We had an amazing sea view. Of the two pools, we found that the big, oblong pool didn’t have much of an atmosphere (no food here apart from ice creams) and the bar staff didn’t even crack a smile, so we preferred the smaller pool, despite the many steps to get there. The animation team were lovely girls, left you alone if you didn’t want join in, but the aqua “aerobics” were the same every time, not even any variation of the music they played every day. Plenty of sun loungers and shady spots to sit at, at the bar area or snack bar area. The children’s play area looked neat however, no door on the toilet? Food: I personally struggled with it because I’m gluten free. It was poorly labelled and even the labelling was confusing as it showed the bacon had gluten (?), so as rather a lot came in a sauce of some description, I avoided it and ate pretty much the same for all my meals, all week. My husband however, enjoyed the food, and I have to say, was well presented and colourful, but not necessarily placed in the order one might want it, for example, the rolls were on a completely different side of the buffet restaurant to the soup. I did note that they served lactose free milk and oat milk, but, the actual jugs were not labelled so couldn’t tell if they’d been placed correctly under each label. We didn’t use the top pools evening restaurant as it was not only a pre-bookable experience, because we didn’t want to drink our evening wine out of plastic cups (maybe wrong to presume it was plastic vessels as it is poolside). Also, didn’t experience the evening entertainment there as it wasn’t really our thing. Instead we found ourselves in the beach bar on the very ground floor. The “own brand” alcohol left a fair bit to be desired if you were there on an all inclusive basis, but one could buy branded drinks if required. The atmosphere was ok, not how I would envisage a beach bar, but guess we were there out of season. We went past the gym and that looked well equipped. It’s a bit of a disjointed hotel, with an access road separating the main block with supermarket and main buffet, then the main big pool and some apartments, then over the road for more apartments and the smaller pool with snack bar. Overall, clean and tidy and value for money.

"Fint, men slidt"

4.0

Sødt personale, fin beliggenhed.

Slidt, værelser med slid/mærker på borde og spejlpest og buffeten var også enormt kedelig. Har helt sikkert været rigtig godt engang, men nu trænger det til en gevaldig upgrade.

"Good value all inclusive"

10.0

My partner and i stayed here for 1 week at the end of Jan/start of Feb. We got a great package deal from our local travel agent via Jet2 and for what we paid (£500 each) we felt it was excellent value for money. We were informed before booking that the hotel was fairly remote and it wouldn't be suitable for people with mobility issues due to the hotel being on varying levels. We found the food to be ok. Some days it was really enjoyable, others just reasonable. Breakfast was a bit of a cattle market as busy times but once you get used to it you find your way around ok. The drinks were good, Cruzcampo lager on draught, the wines were ok, gin very drinkable and the Sangria nice for a change. We stayed by the lower pool as we found it quieter however you had to be up early to get yourself a decent sunbed. Although there are signs saying that sunbed reservation is not allowed, this is not enforced at all. We walked up the hill and over into Puerto Rico on a couple of occasions which was a nice walk and also into Anfi along the front. Room was great, sea view and the most amazing sunsets. Beds weren't too our liking, very firm and we found them uncomfy but that is just personal preference. We were both in agreement that for the money we paid, this was a great holiday and we would definitely return.

"Terrible stay away"

4.0

Terrible - second time going never again! I took my whole family to Marina Elite in January 13-20th 2026. This was my Christmas present to them all. We have been here before but this time was horrific- I have pics if anyone wants to see them. We had 3 rooms for 6 adults 4 kids. The rooms were upgraded ( we paid extra) but wow what a dirty disgusting place this was the second time visiting. I kept thinking if this is an upgrade what were we supposed to be in? The shower had spit marks dried on and mould it looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a long time- under the couch was crumbs hair and bits of food waste, under the beds were so dirty too - the sheets had long black hairs in both beds and my grandson sent me a pic of brown stuff on his sheets. The food waste freezing cold. The queues were so bad in the restaurant that they closed the doors to keep people out. Staff run ragged trying to clear tables ended up smashing plates everywhere. The buffet through the day was just warmed up we heard people ask for fresh burgers but chef refused this. Two of the main lifts were out of order again ( only one last October was broke) trying to get 10 cases up and down was terrible. People with prams and bikes struggling too. My partner ended up in chemists looking for pain relief for his knees and he goes the gym every day! Then he had to have X-rays and physio once we were home. Honestly this was the holiday from hell ! We had already booked to go back this year in June but I have cancelled it as I couldn’t do another holiday in a dirty hotel. We did have the towels changed once but apart from that we had no cleaners in. I personally have been twice now but I’ll never step foot in there again. I complained to hotel staff and the jet 2 rep whilst there and also put a complaint in once home. We got £78 per family back. Bit of an insult as I’d paid over £6 grand for this trip. We also got stung at the car hire place so we all paid twice for cars that I already paid for. Stay away from this hotel it’s not even a 1 star.

"No hot food. Broken microwave!!!!"

6.0

Second visit Feb 2026 room 513. After a pleasant stay in July 2024, check out that review. This stay was much different. Yes worse. The then good points had gone down hill. The not so good points no improvement. Like vaping on sunbeds!! Why? Vaping in the poolside restaurant? It's as bad as smoking and smoking isn't allowed. Please enforce it. Internet was rubbish. Used 4g mostly. Food stone cold at every meal no matter what time you went in. The microwave doesn't work. Been reported several times by other guests then by me at reception and by email. I was told someone was looking at it yet next day it's still there not working. Take it away if it's broken. So lots of wasted food. Very strange because in July 2024 I praised the hotel for hot food. What has gone wrong? Plus air con is blasting out in the restaurant at night and it's absolutely freezing. I appreciate in the summer it's needed but March? The entertainment is bad. There are 2 girls and during the day they play music, they talk to the lifeguards and don't do much more. It's aqua gym or shuffle board. If nobody wants aqua gym they do nothing other than talk to the lifeguards. Night time it's always acrobats, pretty boring. We didn't use the specialty restaurant. Again people told us the food was all cold and there wasn't even a microwave in there. I was lucky to catch hot chip's twice in there on the lunchtime buffet. Otherwise food sits there inadequately heated. Pizza being cut up and when I took a piece of it, it was cold. The chicken nuggets could bounce off the floor and shatter. How on earth? The apple pie was still frozen. The dessert at the main buffet was the same cake everyday but a different colour, nothing much exciting at all. First visit here I loved it. The shower water is not hot enough in this room for consecutive showers. We are having to time them at least an hour apart. Towels aren't always changed. The maid throws them over the shower top or window. Because there's literally nowhere to put them. Then we have no idea who used which towel. This room is much noisier than the one we had in the main building. We can hear nextdoors tv. This morning woken by banging. Thought it was maintenance early before 7.30. Oh no. Then frantic rhythmic banging you guessed it? Nextdoor having s.x. followed by moans when the banging stopped. Same next morning!! Second visit here such a shame and now I see why the TripAdvisor review is so low. Management clearly not listening to what people dislike or what needs improving. The views are stunning. You can excuse all of the steps, but if food is cold and entertainment dire the reviews will be bad. The beach bar is lovely albeit the waiter is grumpy!! It has a corner that looks like it could be used for entertainment but it wasn't. Plus 3 sets of doors wide open and again freezing!!! Checked out to find there's no luggage room. Cases are just scattered around reception. We don't leave til 6. Anyone could take our cases. If reviews improve maybe I would return. Mmm no thinking about it I probably wouldn't. And one improvement is very cheap. A new working MICROWAVE por favor and one installing in the pool buffet. Simples.

"Literally couldn't have been happier with this holiday at the Marina Elite (booked with Jet2)."

10.0

We are a family of 4 (ages 59,43,11 and 7) and take 2 all inclusive holidays a year in and this was our best by far out of all we have been on in the last 10 years. We were absolutely delighted with our holiday at the Marina Elite. Minor issues dealt with promptly and we just had the best time. We had room 617 which was a room directly in front of the sea on the corner. Was super quiet with an amazing view and we literally couldn't have received a better sea view! A one bedroom apartment with a mini kitchen, full size fridge with freezer box and a really good sized balcony area. The sofa bed in the living room split into 2 separate full sized beds. Air-conditioning was efficient in the living room but couldn't feel it in the bedroom area so for any hot sleepers... Stick to the Living room. Only a shower, no bath, but the great thing for the kids was that they also had a detachable shower hose so the kids could shower with it attached lower down. Our kids take baths at home and are not keen on showers so not having just the overhead shower was a big bonus. Showers were powerful and hot. The balcony had a drying rack to put all the swimming costumes to dry each day. There were 2 main pools at this hotel. The top kids pool with all the entertainment, music and activities and then the lower rectangle shaped pool on floor 10 which was so relaxing as didn't have music pumping all day. Reserving sunbeds was a bit of an issue but that's not the hotel's fault and happens everywhere but very frustrating when people reserve beds and then don't use them till the afternoon! This is the one thing that the hotel staff could deal with then would be perfect... Inforce the 30 mins remove towels from sunbeds policy. There would be enough for everyone then. We are quite an active family and didn't mind the steps but for anyone with mobility issues, very young children with prams etc this could be a significant issue as there are a lot of steps!!! After all, this hotel is built into a cliff side! We were fine though and after 9 days of choosing the steps, rather than the lift, we all felt super fit! This hotel is sited in a quiet location so if you want shops, night life and activities right out of the hotel then this is not the hotel for you. We enjoyed the peace and quiet of an evening where all you can hear is the waves below. However, there is a resort a flat km walk away to the left as you look at the sea with a fantastic beach, watersports facility, shops, bars and restaurants. To the right (if looking towards the sea) there is Puerto Rico. No flat walking route but those who are fit and able can take a 40 minute walk on the path that cuts through the mountains. Equally, there is a bus stop right outside the hotel which takes you directly to the town of Puerto Rico and cost just 1.40 each way. Buses are frequent and we didn't have to wait more than 20 minutes for a bus in either direction. We tended to walk there in the morning and get the bus back in the afternoon when it was hotter. Puerto Rico has a fantastic shopping mall called Mogan mall. If you are in the town then just keep heading inland and and slightly up hill. Think it took about 15 minutes to walk there from the bus station. We took a trip to Palmitos Park, book online for slightly cheaper ticket price. You can get a return ticket on the bus from right outside the hotel (think this was 12 euros return for the 2 of us. We also did peddle boating from the anfi watersports area and Kayaking. We paid 20 euros for an hour peddle boat which had 4 seats and a slide. Kids wear life jackets and they have adult life jackets available too if required. We also hired a double kayak for an hour which we swapped the kids over in half way as a hour of kayaking is quite a long time for kids. Again, life jackets were provided for the kids. We watched the shows at the hotel which were really good. Off season, only a couple of shows a week which was fine for us as the shows started quite late and we're normally heading for bed by 10pm. The food was the best we've had at any of the all inclusive hotels we've been to before. Fresh meat and fish is cooked in front of you on the griddle every day. Eggs and pancakes cooked fresh every day and we loved that they did a selection of flipped and also runny yolk fried eggs. Churros and pancakes were fresh, hot and tasty. Always plenty of fresh fruit, bread, cheese and vegetables each day. Literally couldn't have been more impressed with the quality and choice of food available. My only issue would be the need for more cutlery in the restaurant as at busy times you can struggle to find a knife and fork. Drinks available were good and they even had cava/prosecco as part of the all inclusive. Never had to wait too long at the bar. What I did think was a brilliant idea though is their slushy machine... They have it running all day and is just plain iced water so u can have grownup slushies or kid slushies. Love a Malibu and pineapple slushie. Kids can ask for cordial to be added to their slushie. This meant no wasps hanging around the slushie machine... Can't believe I've not seen this before. Also, no food around the pool so the pool area is clean and tidy. Also, pleased to see that smoking was only permitted in designated areas so we weren't having to breathe in other people smoke when we were enjoying the pool environment. Pool doesn't get closed at night or blocked off so my husband and kids were able to enjoy an empty pool for a few lengths after dinner. Obviously no lifeguard on duty but was a treat for them all to be able to have night time swims. In summary.... We will definitely be back and would recommend this hotel for a perfect quiet, good value week or 2 in the sun.

"Tired hotel, chaotic transfer and a very disappointing stay."

2.0

We were extremely disappointed with our stay at Marina Elite. The hotel itself is very tired and in need of serious refurbishment. The rooms and common areas feel dated and worn, and it certainly doesn’t live up to the photos or expectations. There are nowhere near enough sun loungers for the number of guests. Every morning was a scramble to find somewhere to sit, which completely takes away from what should be a relaxing holiday experience. The WiFi was practically unusable. It either didn’t connect at all or constantly dropped out, which was incredibly frustrating. The worst part, however, was the transfer to the hotel. What should have been a straightforward one-hour journey turned into nearly three hours because the driver got lost. To make matters worse, we were then dropped on the roadside and had to walk up a steep hill with our suitcases to reach the hotel. After a long day of travelling, this was unacceptable. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience and not somewhere we would return to or recommend.

"Steps are a challenge but earned our food and drinks!"

10.0

Well we think this hotel is a ‘marmite’ with split opinions. For us it was great as we loved the challenge of the steps every day and good walks to Puerto Rico (approx 45 mins - steep at the beginning and rocky), Anfi Beach (only 10 mins easy walk) and the centre of Arguineguin (approx 1 hour). We read the reviews so knew what to expect but actually it surpassed our expectations. We paid for a sea view room and it was spectacular, very spacious and the best shower and hairdryer we’ve ever had! Yes some of the restaurant staff (and some bar staff) could be friendlier and quicker but once we realised we weren’t getting a smile or served any quicker we accepted it. We were on holiday so just wanted to enjoy ourselves so accepted what it was! Reception staff were always friendly and made us feel welcome. Food, as all the reviews have mentioned is basic but there was always something to find to eat. Breakfast was good, didn’t do lunch, dinner had choices. If you struggle with mobility perhaps not the hotel for you as one of the lifts was broken though looks like they are installing a new one at the moment. Some tips - take mugs if you like a bigger cuppa in the room, t-towel useful, on site shop sells a small pack of washing up liquid, scrubber and cloth. Even if all inclusive useful in the room. One Bar is on the ground floor, restaurant 7th floor, pools 10th floor and higher but great views. We enjoyed our holiday and would definitely return.
