The Crown Inn

Nice pub in a beautiful village. I stayed there for 2 nights in June 19. My only criticism would be that service at breakfast was a little slow as there was only 1 person working, but the food was great when it came. if you want to get to sleep early then the noise from the bar below might prevent that but it's all finished by about 11.30pm and it didn't worry me at all.

The welcome and service was good, however the room was really quite basic and some of the cleaning was poor. Food choice was simple and quality was good at dinner and breakfast.

Small village Inn with a lively,welcoming atmosphere. The beer was fresh and the evening meal was excellent. Breakfast was prompt and plentiful. WiFi was a little clunky but I suspect that is beyond the control of the pub, being a very rural location. IfI find myself in this neck of the wood again I shall definitely make a return visit.

Had a fantastic night’s stay in the recently refurbed Crown, in the incredibly picturesque Aldboutne. This beautiful village is full of history, and the locals are very friendly. Will definitely be coming back.

Stayed here a few times as a business stop over . Always comfortable and clean . Good nights sleep and nice breakfast. Free parking in village. Pretty setting

This is a 400 year old, local pub...what more can I say? The place is really interesting and verrrry ooooold. It's also a true local pub in a beautiful,quaint, English villiage. The night we stayed there, they were having a drawing for various chunks of meat offered from the local butcher. Fun! Now where do you see that? The locals were lively, the pints were filled to the brim and the owner was a gracious host. There are several rooms to rent upstairs. Ours was pleasant enough, with a window that looked out over the square. The bathroom was so-so and tiny. There was an alarm that went off in the middle of the night and lasted until morning. The owner apologized and explained that he didn't have the key to turn it off. In most cases, I would have been upset about it, but the place and the proprietor were so charming, it was easy to overlook. I'd go back there in a heartbeat!

When you stay at a place like this you don't count on Frette linens and turndown service. It's all about the people and history of the place. We had a fabulous time in the pub, talking with new friends, while watching the owner gleefully raffle off big chunks of meat from the local grocer. Now, where can you do that? The beer was excellent, the staff was wonderful and the place is super old and full of character. The rooms are...well...old. The floor slope in all sorts of ways. Our room was reasonably clean and kind of cute. The bed and pillows could have used replacing and the shower was incredibly small, but we didn't mind. We had a wonderful stay!
