"Shocking breakfast"

We were only staying for one night so the small, dark room and neighbours who passed out at 1am with the television blaring through the wall was bearable but the breakfast was so staggeringly awful that it deserves a mention of its own. Perhaps if the chef had focused a bit more on cooking the eggs/ not overcooking everything else at 09:00 in the morning - instead of his Yorkshire Puddings for Sunday lunch - we’d have all fared a bit better!

"Stunning hotel, let down by poor staff except for one!"

This hotel is stunning. My room was amazing, spotless and you can see how hard the house keeping team work. Breakfast was good. What let the place down was the service. My arrival at reception was greeted with are you checking in, no smile or good evening. I didn’t have dinner in the restaurant so cannot comment on that. I did however go to the bar at night for a drink. No member of staff to be seen at the bar, baring in mind I walked past 2 staff members clearing up in the restaurant as I walked through to the bar. Stood waiting for ages, staff member came walked right past me and went through the back, no acknowledgment. Eventually a female came and asked can I help, no apology for keeping me waiting. I got my drink and returned to my room. Staff in the morning also not friendly or pleasant, a good morning goes a long way. But one member saved them from only being given 3 stars. Ruth, head of house keeping I believe, she is wasted in this role. Although you can see how hard she works. She was the only staff member to smile, have a chat with me, asked if I liked my room etc. Her customer service standards are excellent, such a lovely, friendly and genuine person. Even her colleague greeted me with a smile and a good morning, you can tell this comes from the example Ruth has set. Front of house, bar and restaurant staff could learn a lot from Ruth. I’ve stayed in many hotels due to work and what always makes a difference is the staff. Unfortunately The Redhurst are let down by their poor staff interactions, all except for Ruth and her hard working team. She really is a star! (Apologies for keeping you back from your work, but you were a pleasure to talk to Ruth, thank you)

"Do not go here"

This is the absolutely shocking they will not cater for Gluten free I phone today at 2.45pm to make a reservation, explained that I was gluten free came at 6.30pm to be asked is it a choice or an allergy , the chef is not confident in dealing with this. I spoke to a manger that kept saying sorry. I left. same thing happened 8 month ago

"Wedding venue"

Great venue ,well organised from start to finish. Everyone had a great time. Lorraine and Aimee worked hard to make sure our big day went to plan. I’m sure they a great team behind them and they deserve a mention too.The room was immaculately clean and tidy, well done housekeeping! Would recommend to anyone getting married, great venue.

"A Glasgow hidden winner"

Two days at The Open at Royal Troon this week (Jul 24) and searched TA & Google for convenient hotels. Stumbled over The Redhurst - 30 min drive from golf course. So - took a punt. WOW - WHAT A FIND! OUTSTANDING value for money. Very modern and lovely furnished small hotel. Restaurant was excellent. Bar - well designed and great buzz. Bedroom, though not huge, was good enough and really well furnished, equipped and super comfortable bed and delightfully presented. Ver clean, well furnished with great in room nibbles ( be warned!). Ensuite with shower was well designed and furnished. Dinner menu was not large but more than adequate - simple straight forward good nosh. Crispy BBQ chicken strips , as a starter, is a must- delicious . Their steak & ale pie - WINNER! Meat quality was excellent & plentiful. All freshly cooked, hot and very very tasty. BUT.. the absolute star(s) of the show were the staff. Rarely have I met such young, motivated and customer focussed staff. From front desk, through bar to breakfast & dining staff - all were simply outstanding. They could not have done anything to make our stay any more pleasant. OUTSTANDING! I would highly recommend this hotel whether visiting on Scottish golf tour or Glasgow.I will be organising a golfing trip back to the West coast & will definitely be visiting again this lovely hotel. Thankyou to all the staff!

"Poor value & service"

My family hosted my mother’s after funeral service reception here recently and found the service slow, unfriendly and poor value for money. We had around 80 people attending and when our guests arrived there was nothing but empty cups on the tables with not a single staff member to be seen. I had paid for a package of teas, coffees, sandwiches, sausage rolls, scones etc which WE had to ask them to serve, after almost 30 mins after our first guests arrived. As it was a morning reception we assumed most guests wouldn’t want alcohol so didn’t include that in our option however, as there was nothing else offered to our guests on arrival many headed to the well lit bar and ordered their own drinks and paid for them themselves, much to my families embarrassment. When I realised the situation I immediately went to reception to ask them to open a tab at the bar for anyone wanting bar drinks. The hotel refused to change my service package from one without an alcoholic drink to the package with but were more than happy to charge high prices for the incredibly slow bar service using a single barman to serve 80 people. When my wife asked a member of staff when the teas and coffee was going to be serviced she was met with a very abrupt and unfriendly “give me a minute!..give me a minute!” answer. When the sandwiches drinks finally arrived (after some 20 mins) some guests had already left and by the end of the 2 hours we were there, some tables had no sandwiches left whilst and other tables had plates that looked like they hadn’t been touched. They should have been a central buffet table rather than individual plates which would have offered a better distribution. At £12.95 per person plus bar drinks I would say, overall, it was poor value for money and awful value for service. As it was a very emotional occasion I didn’t feel it was the right time to complain however the following day I made a complaint to management but just received the some lame excuse about that’s how they conduct funeral purveys and don’t serve sandwiches until everyone is seated. Looking back I wonder if they’ve ever hosted a funeral purvey before.

"Clean and comfortable"

Lovely hotel, room was clean, bed was comfortable, bathroom lovely and clean, nice hand and shower products, beautiful white fluffy towels. Snacks in room but for a charge. It was lovely to sit outside in the sun and enjoy a drink in the evening. Breakfast was nice, although you have to order eggs, we had nearly finished eating before they were made, so my advise is to order before you start plating rest of your food. Staff friendly enough. Overall a nice comfortable stay.
