NH Collection Palazzo Verona

I really enjoyed my stay at this beautiful hotel! It’s very well located in the city center, short distance from the main attractions. Our room was amazing, spacious and comfortable. Thank you, Erica from reception for your warm welcome and professionalism, and Silvia Guest Relations manager for your hospitality. It was a pleasure meeting you both ! The breakfast was delicious and we received a great treatment of Uliana. Thank you all for making our experience in this amazing city truly memorable!

Good bits - location is great (but similar to other hotels in old town), reception area is modern and well maintained. Check in straightforward. Breakfasts were great with lots of choice and indoor or outdoor seating. Head waiter at breakfast was great - kind and enthusiastic and caring. Top marks for the breakfast team. Bad bits - room we had was small with very little storage space for clothes. En suite shower was tiny and smaller than an old uk phone box! (Friends we travelled with had the same room style but had a much bigger room and bathroom). AC didn’t work well - when checked at reception we were told it was ‘turned off’ and they switched it back on! Room service was poor - no replacement of tea plus milk on each of the mornings we were there - despite several calls and visits to reception. TV channel choices were poor - no BBC world service or Sky news channels. Told BBC was on channel 28 but on screen info said it was not available. TV stopped working completely- technician came and apparently the power supply had been interrupted. Power then re established and TV worked. On two nights the room lights switched on in the small hours waking us from sleep. No idea why this happened and reception also had no idea when we reported it. Overall NOT a 5 star experience - more like 3 star.

Nice staff, great location and very clean

We booked and paid in advance for this hotel based on reviews, which was supposed to be a 5 star hotel. Boy we're we wong and misled. The room we were given upon check in may well have been in a dungeon. It was dark, small, poorly appointed with garbage outside the door. The room wasn't even set up with twin beds as requested. In addition, the view was horrible. After a long day traveling and tired, we had to go to the front desk and request another room. The second room we were assigned to was much better, but getting to the room, the corridor and elevator we're both old, worn out and in poor condition. We thought we were in a hostel. We tried to sleep the first night, but it was too warm in the room to sleep even though after trying to lower the thermostat. The next morning we inquired at the front desk what was the issue with the A/C only to be told that the front desk controls the room temp. They told us we would have to call them each time we wanted to request to have the temp lowered. We then proceeded to the breakfast buffet. When we booked the hotel, and paid handsomely for a superior room and full breakfast, we were told the poached eggs my wife wanted would cost 10 euros extra. In addition, we found that if the buffet ran out of anything like bread, bananas, pastries, etc. they didn't bother to replenish them. The scrambled eggs were so runny they were inedible, and probably not safe to consume. The bacon was undercooked and sitting in grease. If you asked the wait staff to get you anything, it took forever, and they had an attitude about it. The only thing the wait staff was reasonably good at was clearing away used dishes. TV channels included about 4 stations in English. Even those channels didn't come in including the BBC channel. If it rained, which it did, good luck getting any channels to come in. All in all, this Hotel was a complete and total disappointment. It was the worst hotel we stayed in during our 3 plus week vacation visiting Italy, France etc. How they were given a 5 star rating is beyond belief. This hotel at best is 2.5 stars.

Friendly and well run place to stay, centrally located for city sightseeing and restaurants. Would use again.
