"Old world charm, just what we wanted."

10.0

Superb restaurant serving a very nice dinner and a unbelievable breakfast.

The stairs, but that can’t be altered in a very old type of building.

"Fabulous Hotel"

The Royal Oak in Welshpool was excellent, the room we had was first class, really comfortable. The staff were all great and very helpful. We would definitely recommend the hotel to everyone. We'd definitely stop there again.

"Disappointed and relieved it was a one night stay."

5.0

Bathroom was contemporary and clean. Breakfast was good.

Communal areas eg reception, hall, stairs and landing uninviting and carpet filthy and needs replacing. Dinner spoilt due to a table of loud and rude guests; could not wait to leave restaurant.

"Fantastic hotel for dogs"

10.0

Slept so well and bed linen so comfy even though there were traffic lights outside the window running through the night making traffic noise very loud from 5am Food was exceptional especially the pate . The dogs slept very well and were very comfortable. Room was perfect and so was the shower

Only slight annoyance was the very slow drainage from the bathroom sink .

"A useful bolt hole on our cycle tour,"

8.0

Day 1 of our cycle tour, staff very accommodating and stored our bike safely in the function room. Dinner was good, very large portions. breakfast was not included in the room rate. Powys Castle just a short walk and worth a revisit in the future.

room rate quite expensive
