"A great hotel, my experience marred by an overheated room"

Beautiful hotel, well located for those walking on the Offa’s Dyke long distance path. Friendly staff, good meals (including in the bar).

My bedroom was on the 2nd floor and far too warm. There was no air conditioning and the window could not be opened. Consequently it was not possible to have a good night’s sleep. I appreciate that the weather had been exceptionally hot but more though should be given to guest comfort.

Car park was difficult to find - went around one way system a few times

"Charming historic Welshpool hotelo"

Only a 5 mins walk from station. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean rooms. Very good selection of food for breakfast and in restaurant.

Bacon hard and overcooked The temperature in the room overnight was unbearable. Neither of us had above 4 hours sleep. Discovered fan in wardrobe at midnight but offered little relief

The Royal Oak carries old world charm with tasteful incorporation of modern amenities without disturbing the aesthetics. It's rustic provincial appeal is most alluring.

The Royal Oak needs to carry locally crafted souvenirs reflective of the historical building with its most interesting history. I especially enjoyed the account about the tunnel opening in cellar that leads to Powis castle, I believe it was closed due to safety reasons.

"Exceptional"

On site parking. Very friendly staff. Evening dinner and breakfast were great. Room was huge. Bar was cozy
