Staff were fantastic, lovely and could not do enough for you. Great old building.

The bathroom in room 3 badly needs updating. The tub was chipped and the water pressure was awful. The cold tap on the sink doesn't work until you run the bathtub for a bit and the water comes out cloudy so is undrinkable. The bedding was lovely but let down by the duvet / pillows inside. Just needs upgrading for an actual luxurious feel. Overall lovely hotel but badly needs updating.

The house is stunning, the bed was very comfortable, the morning staff were amazing. A warm friendly personal hotel.

The bedside tables were very dusty had cup rings on them the phone was covered in dust. Dado rails had dust on them. Shower had mould in the sealant. No hand-wash or soap available.

Thank you for your lengthy response that as you may expect I disagree with. It is an attempt to defend the reputation of your hotel and has little concern for customer care. You have used some strong language,” threat”, this was not a threat but an opportunity for you to answer my complaint before I sent a negative assessment to Booking.com. “Malicious”, it would only be malicious if it were untrue, this review is accurate from a customer perspective.” Social media”, I do not use social media only reputable review sites. We booked the rooms to attend a family birthday party. On arrival the member of staff was stressed because he could not find a booking for our second room saying this isn’t usually my job and apologised. Eventually the booking was found, and we were directed to our rooms. Room 3 was at a standard we expected for a 3 star hotel. A refurbishment had been done on the en-suite, but this was of poor workmanship and only half completed. The bath had chips in the bottom, and the wall hair dryer was ancient and had become a very discoloured cream. The bed was large but the pillows hard. It had a good view of open countryside and garden, Room 6 was the issue. On entering we were greeted by a damp smell, a champagne bucket in the middle of the room sat on damp tea towels catching water drips from the ceiling. Pieces of plaster surrounded the bucket. You said that you are aware of an issue with the roof. As rain was forecast that night we were concerned. There were two dead house flies in the window bottom and were dry so had been there for some time. There were cobwebs in the lighting and also on the walls. It had a poor view of the top of the conservatory. The room was cold because as you say the heating was turned off. My daughter slept in her fleece. It should not have been made available for habitation in that state. On leaving for the party which we were already late for, I intended raising the issue with the man on reception but as he was booking in a new arrival, I didn’t want to embarrass you. On returning we were greeted by the same member of staff who came from the bar area and asked us if we would like a drink. This was not a free drink but an opportunity to use the bar. We told him of the room condition and our disappointment. He was shocked and profusely apologised. Whilst this was a brief conversation, he did not offer a room exchange. Breakfast in the morning was good. When we left breakfast, we complained to reception. She also was shocked when we showed her the photographs of room 6. She didn’t have an answer for us then but said she would speak to the manager and have a response on departure. The manager was not available but would ring me back that day. Having received no response I rang the hotel and was told that the manager was not available due to being at her mother’s funeral I offered my condolences and was promised an E mail response. I told you that we are regular visitors to the area as we have family locally and were looking for a hotel that we could use on those occasions. I received nothing so rang again. I was told that an E mail response was imminent. I asked if I could be made aware of the content of the e mail which was declined. I received nothing so E Mailed and received your response at 0013 the following morning. With regards this statement, “We take all threats against our business and staff, harassment and aggression very seriously and will respond accordingly against such threats”. At no time did we threaten any of your staff. You can however expect us to complain when we have been provided with such a poor quality of service In fact we were very polite and courteous to staff. I would definitely not stay here again.

Breakfast was OK. Room 6 we complained about had a leaking ceiling and dead flies and cobweb's.

The staff were amazing and couldn’t do enough for us (husband and 2 year old). The room was really spacious which was fab with the travel cot and had a lovely sofa. The staff delivered room service as we had to eat in the room with our son asleep. So pleased, would definitely go back. Good food and wine selection!!

Some minor finishing touches to decor, nothing to detract for stay. The room was cool in the morning but they had already provided a storage heater which was more than ample

It's a great place to stay and can walk round the grounds.

Nice Hall in grounds and plenty of parking spaces.
