Lovely period property

Upgraded one of the rooms and the tv didn’t work, sat in the window for dinner which was under a radiator. Which was very hot and became very uncomfortable

Terrible experience today; I had booked for afternoon tea for my friends and they had the booking down incorrectly for 16 February and marked me as a ‘no show’ I was in India on the 16th and simply didn’t book for this date. They said we could have a scone each a glass of Prosecco and tea and coffee! They asked me to pay for four more scones and another desert, which I did. It was embarrassing and I was made to feel awful. Won’t be going again… the only good thing was my friend said the afternoon tea looked pretty pathetic anyway

Cleaning is an issue in all areas - the restaurant hadn’t been hoovered / cleaned from the night before - dust and dirt is the norm.

The room was lovely and the food was amazing. Well done to the chef.

The reception area was messy and there was an unpleasant smell in the hallway

We booked this place for afternoon tea and it wasn't that great. That said, the setting of the house is fantastic, and the poor staff who are run off their feet are very nice. Nicer than I would be under the stress. Back tot he afternoon tea. The sandwiches were nice, they really were, just not enough of them. The single scone eat was OK, but used to 2 scones eat. The 3 cakes each were coffee, walnut and an eclair. The 80 year old and the 92 year old in our party don't like coffee, or walnut. To be honest, I think they are marmite flavours. Non of us wanted to say anything because the poor girl working was snowed under and seemed to be doing everything on her own. We didn't want to add to her workload. I say the above hoping WH picks up on this and makes improvements, this could be a fantastic place. for afternoon tea.

The overall look of the hotel. The food was nice. The bed was comfortable.

The shower water pressure was bad. The man who checked us in was rude and very uncomfortable to be around.
