breakfast was good and environment is pleasing. Lot of Chinese food. But the bakery did not suit us and the breads was hard to chew.

the friendlier and helpful staffs

Being one of the older Hiltons in Shenyang, this Doubletree was still holding strong if you ask me. The room products were still okay (albeit some TLC would be nice), service was good, and there was a lounge (whether or not it was a good one is a completely different story =/). This hotel also took guest surveys very seriously. After a sub-par experience during my first stay (mainly due to shortcomings in maintenance/upkeep and cigarette smell), I left a 6/10 comment card and thought nothing more of it. I was surprised to see that they proactively addressed and tried to make up for previous issues in my second visit - a very nice (and rare) gesture especially post-COVID. All said, I would definitely consider returning if the price is right.

Well equipped hotel, I use the gym and swimming pool with good service. Breakfast is brilliant, have a lot of choice, will definitely use the hotel again.

Facility looks out of date

This is an old hotel in Shenyang old town area. It next to a wholesale market which was very famous about 20 years ago. The hotel room is big enough for 1 person. Hotel staff are very polite, friendly and helpful. Maybe because it is still a Chinese style hotel, the lobby bar only provide coffee from 12pm. Overall I enjoy my 9 nights stay in this hotel

The location is close to whole sale complex so you can walk to shopping since 6 a.m. The room facilities are excellent and room size is big and propotional. Breakfast is good with many international foods.

The location is 1 km from tourist attractive.

The overall ambience ambience of the hotel is pleasant and well kept and the staff are generally friendly, well presented and helpful, many speaking good English which we appreciated.

No signs or attendant to guide us to the inside parking, which we found after asking at reception. The insistence of the check in staff to pay a deposit after paying the whole room cost on entry using our ICBC debit cards. There is no notice of this requirement on the booking form which clearly shows room rates and other taxes which were not disputed. Our credit cards are not Chinese, therefore our preference is to use our money not the banks or be forced to place deposits for services we may or may not choose to use, which needs to be reclaimed later. It appears that a number of items like soft drinks and snacks were removed from the room prior to our entry as well as the mini bar being locked following my refusal to leave a deposit which suggests a distrust of a guest.. Additionally we chose a non smoking room, however this had a heavy odour of cigarettes on entry and spillage stains near the window need to be removed. The main ceiling showerhead could not be adjusted as it was partly detached from its mountings allowing water to enter the bathroom. No welcome pack. In my opinion a personalised welcome letter showing the amenities of the hotel goes a long way toward selling its services and increasing customer spend. As this hotel is marketed as a 5 star establishment some form of welcome gift is usually placed in the room by the management prior to a guests arrival, for example fruit of a small flower arrangement. Please note we previously used and recommend Double Tree in Dubai and other locations where we were based for business purposes before moving to China which met our expectations fully. My above comments are made in light of the claimed rating of the hotel which I felt to be a little lacking on this particular occasion.
