Alliance Hotel Ieper Centrum

The Hotel is close to the centre of Ypres & about a 5 min walk from the Menin Gate. The decore of the Breakfast dining room was impressive & breakfast was included in the room cost. The receptionist was friendly & willingly assisted with helping us to obtain a free 30 minute parking ticket from a machine so that we could park right outside the hotel entrance.

There is NO on-site parking. Street parking is free from 6.pm till 9.am. but you either need to upload a Belgian Parking App or pay with coins. (The parking meter instructions are in Dutch). We had no coins & the receptionist could not provide change so we quickly went to a nearby shop & made a small purchase then paid 3 euros for 2 hours parking (up to 6.pm). Our room was on the first floor. There is no lift to the upper floors, access is via an open sided, narrow, curved marble staircase.. The room was clean but initially quite cold. There was a small oil filled electric radiator which adequately heated the room throughout the night. The bathroom extractor fan was very noisy & the hand & shower towels, though clean, were past their best. Breakfast was typical continental with facilities for toast & boiled eggs. Entry into the hotel after hours is via a key code. There is no 24 hour receptionist. The Hotel was adequate for our one night stay but we would look elsewhere if staying for longer.

De lokatie. Bed was prima

De hygiene. Kamer ruikt naar vocht, die geur zit zelfs in de handdoeken. Slecht tot matig onderhoud. Roestvorming in badkamer en loslatende rubberstrippen bijvoorbeeld
