Dunama Ocean View Hotel

One of the worst hotels we have stayed at. The room smelled of paint as soon as we got inside. We could see paint droplets on the floor also. There were lot of bugs and small flies in the room, on the bed as well. The mattress and box spring were so dirty and old, the pillows were all clumpy and the towels were like rags. We didn't even feel like using them. When we complained to the staff about the paint smell and dust in the room, they said they would send someone to cleanup, but that never happened. We asked them to move us to a different room but they said the hotel was fully booked- which was hard to believe- that entire place looked deserted. The pool was dirty and uninviting. We had booked for 4 nights but couldn't stay beyond 1 night. Our entire family got bug bites at night. The breakfast was very limited- they could only do eggs 2 ways- scrambled or fried, they ran out of hash browns which was 1 out of 4 items in the breakfast plate. Staff seemed very limited, specially at the reception. We checked out the next day and moved to a nearby hotel which was a 100 times better. Would not recommend this place at all to anyone.

Bedding was full of stains and blood and could easily tell they weren’t washed between check ins. Pool was full of debris and was gross. Room had lots of mold and smelt awful. Would not recommend this property at all and the price point is ridiculous for 100 more can get an all inclusive resort down the road.

The staff was helpful and friendly. We had poolside room which we enjoyed. There is a private beach that you can take a steep walk down to. The restaurant and bar have a wonderful ocean view. Overall great experience!

The bed is hard as a rock and for someone with a bad back it’s not the best place to sleep. They gave me two towels. One was hard as a rock like it had been sitting there for years. The second one was very rough and very inexpensive and smelled terrible before I used it to shower.. There are no nightstands to put your stuff. There is a shelf in the corner of the room that is very small and it’s across the other side of the room from the bed.. There is nowhere to put your luggage so I had to use the two chairs that went with the very small table that was in the room so if you want to eat, and you have two bags that you wanna leave open to get things in and out of you’ve got nowhere to sit. The room is very bare. There’s not much in the room other than bed, drapes shower very small sink. The view is beautiful. I do have to say that, but if they just invested a little bit more in the amenities of the hotel rooms, this place would be a hit and I would stay here most likely every trip I go to Costa Rica and I travel to Costa Rica about every other month. The hallway to get to your room is very dark at night. There our lights, but you have to get to the end of the hallway before the lights turned on because they are set up for motion detection. The staff was very polite, except for the receptionist when I was checking out the security guard was awesome and very helpful and the gentleman who checked me in was very nice and helpful as well

The location is safe and close enough to other beach towns. The rooms are pretty outdated but it’s perfect if you plan on being out most of the time. Definitely a 3 star hotel. The views are amazing, staff was friendly. It was unfortunate that their laundromat “did not work”, Expedia should really remove laundry from the description. Definitely was not 24/7 concierge service, when we would get back at 11pm all the lights were off in the lobby / eating area and NO ONE was at the front desk. There was 24/7 security - nice man who let you through. Do not take “monkey trail” on your way there, if you do you’ll have to cross a small river - stick to the main roads.

Very nice hotel, gorgeous location, easy access to many locations nearby. The staff was amazing and very helpful and kind.

Staff and Hotel was exceptional.

This property has now elevator !!! The lobby is nice, but you to carry your luggage to your room downstairs to your room..... and then, use the stairs every time you want to do something..... not a hotel i would select in the future.

We loved our stay, the staff was extremely helpful and the view from our room was extraordinary. I strongly suggest getting a swim up room that's what we did, which made accessing things convenient. Customer service was top notch couldn't ask for a nicer staff. The cleaning crew was fantastic are room was left spotless every day. We really enjoyed the food. If you are not in good shape it's a long hike down to the tiny beach would suggest it for families with small children or elderly people to walk. The shower wasn't always hot but the good far out ways the bad for this place. The price was fantastic and we enjoyed the spectacular view
