The Residence Maldives

The property was really beautiful and the fact that they have 2 islands double the amount of options you have for dining and entertainment. The staff is extremely helpful and they are always ready to help.

This island is one of the most beautiful places we've even been to. The marine life outside the villas is just stunning - make sure to explore the reef further on! Sharks, turtles and ray sightings were a daily occurence. We also got to see the dolphins up close several times which was such a treat! The staff was incredibly nice and attentive and the food was amazing everywhere we went. We loved the french Falhumaa restaurant the best. We went in July and were fortunate to only have one rainy day during our week-long stay. During the off-season, we felt like we had the resort to ourselves and would absolutely go again. Can't recommend enough!

We stayed at the Residence Maldives for 6 nights for a long delayed honeymoon mid-April. We booked on Booking.com, and reserved an over-the water pool villa. My review sums up in one word - excellent. Truly 5 star resort. Amazing service from everyone in the resort, from the moment we were met at the Male Airport (we had to do nothing, we were met by their representative and everything was taken care of and seamless with the internal flight and boat) to the moment we left. Everyone always has a smile on, is super quick to meet your request and the staff are genuinely nice people. The bar staff, the cleaning staff, the reception staff, the restaurants staff...amazing. The room was nice and clean. Amazing views of the bay, the sunset and the sea. No complaints at all and truly 5 star facilities here. Word of advice, however - there are two resorts in fact, and we booked Falhuma (we didn't know, so it's probably on us). The Dihurah is larger and newer. Getting between the two is easy though on the bicycles provided (or the golf carts you can ask for a ride in if you're so inclined). We asked for a room change as I wanted to be able to get into the sea from our villa and the reception supervisor Shawin was super helpful and accommodating. The resort manager as well, Mr. Visham, came to check in on us. Truly excellent service as they didn't need to accommodate. I'll end with the food and drink. All inclusive package is amazing. The choice of drinks at the bars and restaurants was more than adequate (for example, 4-5 gins to choose from, including Bombay and tanqueray, Glenfiddich 12 and more premium alcohol, plenty of cocktail choices, 4+ red wine choices, etc). I don't understand the reviews that said the choice is limited. It is not, so book with confidence if that is a concern. The only downside is the room minibar only has beer, for anything else you need to go to the nearest bar that's always a few minutes away. No issues.

Lovely spacious, comfortable rooms. We loved our pool and sea access from the water villa. Food and atmosphere on the island is very different at each of the restaurants. I recommend trying each one at the start if your holiday to find your preference.

Personal choice, but we found the resort, which is spread over two islands too big and certain facilities such as the scuba diving centre were only on one of the islands.so we couldn't avoid travelling between both of the islands. Buggy transport isn't guaranteed and sometimes you can be waiting a long time so you are better using the pushbikes provided wherever possible.

The location was amazing and the staff was very courteous and friendly. Very difficult to find something at fault. A perfect stay. For a couple, the Falumafushi villas were amazing.

Accommodation was poor for the money spent. Food was average with limited choices.

-Overwater villa view. -The airport pick up transportation.

-Staff is just looking/asking for tips. -The buggies/Golf Carts are always late (we don't know how to ride bicycles and they assume all guests do). -We were not told ahead of time that we can book the special resturants and unfortunately had to take lunch instead of dinner at 1 of them and had to fight to get dinner at one of them which messed up our vacation. -All requests were not satisfied and the staff always had an attitude. -I wouldn't recommend the All-inclusive for 2 reasons 1)The food is absolutely horrible we even had a stomach bug and had to take some meds 2)The bartenders Do not know how to make cocktails it was absurd. -The mini-bar had 0 alcohol which is crazy when you are paying full price for All-inclusive. - We asked for a blanket multiple times and they didn't give us one. - I confirmed with the resort that these days are the season and it won't be raining but it still rained 3 out of the 5 days stay. -Thei snorkeling kit and gear is not new and it gives you the worst experience snorkeling. -The value to services/ameneities/food/drinks is horrible & everything is way overpriced. I definitely wouldn't recommend this resort to anyone. - Staff gotten very rude once we checked out and had to wait at the resort for our speedboat to take our flight back (they made us wait 1.5hrs to bring our bags to the lobby, they delayed the buggies to transport us, and started getting an attitude whenever we asked for anything) It felt nice checking in but when it was time for check out it was one of the worst experiences! - All in all we really didn't enjoy our stay at this hotel and it really gave us a bad experience for our honeymoon

Customer service was great, everyone was super friendly and were always making sure we were not missing anything. What probably took this away the opportunity for becoming a 10/10, is the cockroaches at the room….for multiple days we found small cockroaches all over the room (the bathroom…the shower, even our bed). Even some friends we made at the hotel, later told us that they had the same situation (these were overwater villas). We let the front desk know and they said they were going to put poison in the room, but these just kept showing up…
