Alex Alpine Resort - Spa & Sports

One of the best hotels I’ve stayed at in 40 years of travel to Europe. The rooms are beautifully decorated, the staff is friendly and efficient and the restaurant is excellent (decor, food and service). It is centrally located one block from the Main Street and 5 minutes from the train station.

Staff were fantastic throughout, so helpful and thoughtful. I’ve never seen a hotel with so many chargers and cables! Breakfast delicious, great range of local jams. loved the pool and spa facilities. location exactly what you want, 15mins walk to Matterhorn glacier lift, 1 min walk to the two other main mountain trains. wish i could have stayed longer

Lovely hotel, decor is full of character. There is a large swimming pool with excellent spa facilities. Great restaurant on site, by far my best meal in Zermatt.

The hotel is quaint and comfortable. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The rooms are large with a sitting area with TV apart from bedroom. Large whirlpool tub. Our dinner meal was quite good. The breakfast is so- so. Good bakeries nearby open @ 7 AM.

The Alex Hotel was wonderful. Slightly quirky, and full of charm. Even opening in 1961, it has the beautiful craftsmanship of years gone by. It is a bit of a walk to the lifts, but doable. The atmosphere is relaxing, the staff very attentive to one's needs or wishes. Within a couple of days staff members knew our names. We had a very nice suite with a separate bedroom with a king-size bed and living space. The only thing negative I must mention is that the tub-shower combination had a very slippery bottom once wet. There was not a tub mat in the room or anti-slip on the bottom of the tub. I did not think of asking for a bath mat. The tub did not feel slippery when I ran my hand across the bottom. The first evening, after skiing I went to shower and as soon as the tub bottom was wet it was very slippery. I went to reach for the shampoo, slipped, and badly sprained my adductor/groin muscles. That ended my skiing. The staff could not have been nicer. I was kept in ice for the remainder of the trip. There is a very nice locker on the ground floor with lockers for each room. Our locker had multiple dryers for boots, gloves, hats, etc. There is a spa and in-ground pool. I did not use these facilities, so I cannot comment. The dining room was lovely and the food fantastic. Everything was spotless from our room throughout the common areas. Considering all that the Alex Hotel offered, I would say that the value is very good for a 4-star hotel.
