Chateau de Chissay

We liked our night at Chateau de Chissay. The castle is quite impressive and the staff very helpful and friendly Be aware that there are no TV in the rooms and internet is patchy but this is part of the experience

- friendly staffs. - pool ok. - dinner was tasty. - When all the lights were switch on the room still dark, but is old building... - Bathroom is big and clean, but the WC has some smell I guess is from the pipe. - the ceiling was dripping some water (like half cup), i have no idea what kind of water is that i took a shower immediately.

Chissay is a beautiful 15th century fortified chateau in the heart of Loire Valley. One of the towers dated back to 12th century. I Stayed there for a week with my family and friends and their families. We were a group of 23 including 10 children from ages 18 months to 13. Isabelle, the director of the chateau, and her staff went out of their way to accommodate us during our stay. The hospitality we received at the chateau were deeply felt and appreciated by everyone in the group. Thank you, Isabelle.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Chateau - the staff couldn't be more helpful, despite having no French language at all, the staff were very understanding helpful and very pleasant. We couldn't have asked for better. We were provided with a room upgrade as well which was an added bonus. The Chateau is located in the beautiful little town of Chissay, and is very well located to access the other jewels of this world heritage listed valley.

Overnight on return from Tarn area. Room and bathroom clean and comfortable. The canopy over the bed had been constructed from what appeared to be a side table or bed head, it wasn't finished well and, sadly looked out of place with the rest of the room.

Wow. Beautiful place with very friendly and helpful staff. A real highlight of our week in France.

About what you would expect from a stay in an old castle. By that I mean the wifi only works in the lobby, the elevator only goes up to the 2nd floor (we were on the third), it was easy to get lost in the irregular hallways and stairs, and did I mention the wifi only works in the lobby? Despite this, we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others. The restaurant was full the night we arrived so the staff made a reservation at a nearby establishment for us. We had breakfast here twice and dinner once and found the food to be very good. The location was very convenient for visiting Chateaux Chenonceau. I think two nights here is the optimum length for enjoying the unique atmosphere of staying in an old castle without getting annoyed at the lack of modern creature comforts.

The chateau is beautiful; we were considered for an upgrade to a superior room as we requested a room closer to the lift due to many luggages that we have when we were first given a room with no lift. The room is huge with separate shower and toilet. There is no tv to the room only an old small radio perhaps it is themed for a total relaxation and tranquility. Parking was available and free. The beds are comfortable and clean. Breakfast was at 17 euro in August and it was very basic not much options. We were given a table overlooking the swimming pool. The sight was beautiful; we enjoyed it. It was a good experience to be sleeping in a chateau. Took us a while to find the chateau as it looked hidden. The reception people are very helpful and acomodating.

Staying in a 16th century chateau, but with modern amenities and terrific food, was like living a fantasy in a novel.
