"Two beautiful nights at Cahal Pech Resort"

10.0

The cabana was clean, tidy and comfortable. We especially liked the grass roof and screen porch with hammock - and tropical birds in the trees next to our place. Incredible view of San Ignacio below!!! Employees at the service desk were friendly and helpful. The restaurant and bar had good food and drinks - wait staff very friendly and courteous! Overall, an excellent stay while visiting Tikal National Park in Guatemala!

"Cheap and cheerful, not for me"

4.0

Super nice staff! It was not a bad experience, but not what I was looking for. I stayed in a cabana. It was clean, though I had to ask for the window locks to be fixed for security. I found the cabana noisy, in terms of other guests and the bar, and somehow vehicle noise even though at the end of the road at the top of the town. And music. The cabanas are not very sound resistant. Really great, friendly staff though. But after I visited San Ignacio Resort Hotel for the iguana tour, I moved there. An amazing spot. Plus, the restaurant is wayyyyy (shockingly) better but prices about the same as at Cahal Pech. Depends on your budget. But I wouldn't stay here again.

"Lovely View"

8.0

The view from up on the hill is gorgeous. Restaurant staff (shout-out to Austin and Ceasar) were outstanding - very attentive without being intrusive. Food was good, especially breakfast options. Property grounds are very nice, especially at night with the party lights. Can’t easily walk into town but taxis were reasonably priced. My biggest complaint is that I expected our “family cabana” to be a single, stand-alone unit judging from the photos and description on website. We chose a cabana so that we wouldn’t have someone above, below, or next to us like in a hotel room. In reality, our cabana was 3-stories, of which the upper story was a separate rental. Our portion of the cabana consisted of two queen beds at ground level and two queen beds at lower level. If our family had consisted of children or elderly, less mobile adults, this would not have worked. The stairs down to the lower level were a narrow spiral staircase that was tricky to ascend/descend. The cabana was basic, clean and very fairly priced. View from the screened-in porch was lovely. My advice would be to confirm the layout of your requested cabana ahead of time if you have something specific in mind. Be sure to check out the coffee shop at the opposite end from restaurant - very tasty options, including homemade soup.

"Incredible view and stellar service."

8.0

The service was stellar. The view is incredible. The only downside was that our cabana was right next to the pool and restaurant, so it was pretty noisy at times. We would stay there again but in a regular room instead of a cabana.

The Cahal Pech Resort is unique. They have both cabanas and hotel rooms, three small pools, a café, a bar, and a decent restaurant. It was fun staying there. The cabanas were various sizes, but I found them to have less living space than it would appear on the outside, though the protected front porch with a hammock was nice. The resort is right beside the Cahal Pech Mayan ruins, which is convenient, though the location is a little less convenient for going into the main area of San Ignacio. Its about a 2km walk down hill to the main part of the town (and of course 2km uphill to get back). Though taxi rides into the town are cheap. Some cabanas are closer lower down the hill than others, and you can hear dogs barking and roosters in the morning (I actually enjoyed that, but some may not). The concierge service was very helpful and had decent prices for transportation and tours. Service was good. I stayed there twice in the same trip, and would stay again.

I enjoyed my stay to a degree. I feel the facility could use some maintenance. Shower didn't work well, but worked. Dogs barking non stop at night, way beyond an acceptable level. The breakfast was a one time experience and alcohol was priced even higher than Placencia. Will i return? Yes. But not as a a guest that was impressed, but as a traveler than doesn't want to spend a ton

"Paradise in San Ignacio"

10.0

Staff & Cananas were Excellent! Food was great too! Location can’t complain especially when you get to look over city! They will take care all tours with some great rates actually. I just wished they had shared shuttles from the airport to the hotels especially as a solo traveler but hey Everthing was Everything!
