"Needs updates"

6.0

This property really needs some updates. The restaurant and pool were fine, but the room was not. The shower had two settings-freezing cold or scalding hot. The toilet barely flushed and you had to flush multiple times. The beds and pillows were incredibly uncomfortable. The bed also only had a sheet on it-no blankets anywhere in the room, just a sheet. There were three of us in the room and only 2 towels. They also ran out of pool towels twice in our three day stay. The curtain in the room had a sheer panel in the middle, which meant we couldn’t block out the light in the morning while we tried to sleep. The whole property is built into a hill, so rooms are either up/down a steep hill or up stairs with no elevator available. They originally showed us the wrong room, and came back about 15 minutes later to tell us they gave us the wrong room, and we had to hike up the hill and up two flights of steps to get to our room. Both rooms needed a good deep clean and both rooms had an envelope labeled housekeeper tips, which I found really off putting. The restaurant has a breakfast menu, but it’s not available at 7 or 8 am-you must eat at the buffet, which was small and not great. Why have a breakfast menu if you can’t order from it?

Great property with friendly and helpful staff and a good restaurant. Location is great being right next to the Cahal Pech Mayan Ruins. Our whole family, two adults and two teens, enjoyed our stay. Thank you!

We loved our stay. Our room was HUGE, all the staff was SUPER friendly and eager to help, the pools were delicious (not to hot nor too cold), and the food was good.

Cahal Pech resort staff are friendly and helpful. The property is located on top a hill overlooking beautiful San Ignacio, at the end of Cahal Peck road with Google Maps showing the location at the beginning. There is grade elevation transitions to the private huts making slight difficulty if mobility is an issue. The property is well maintained and clean. My stay was in the private thatched roof huts that include their own screened porch. I did not visit the hotel rooms. Meals on the property (buffet style breakfast) had good options and tasty. Have fun!

Great location in San Ignacio. Right next to Cahal Pech Ruins and close to the market. Hotel staff were very nice and accommodating. Good bar. Nice restaurant. The cabana room views were nice. Room was a little outdated and pillows need to be replaced for a better sleep. Improved beds would greatly enhance a stay at this resort!

"Nice resort…. Staff could be nicer."

6.0

The Resort itself is pretty nice, but the staff is not the most friendly. Front desk was not very accommodating and only 1 sever was friendly (Austin was amazing). The restaurant is fantastic, and the chef is also amazing! We stayed in one of the huts, which was comfortable and private. However, there is no fridge in the room, so don’t bring drinks with you if you want to keep them cold. Asked the front desk for help, ie an ice bucket or something…. And they were no help. Austin the sever finally helped me when we went to dinner. There is a sunroom on each hut that is enclosed with a big hammock to lay in. 2 pools, that were not very warm (which on the hot days was nice, but chilly in the late afternoon/early evening). There is a nice gift shop and a nice coffee shop as well. Breakfast buffet was also delicious.
