Amazing resort and friendly attentive staff. Beautiful surroundings and easy to get into town. Rooms were very spacious and comfortable. Great value and wonderful stay.

We stayed in a Sands Room from Monday September 8 to Tuesday September 16 . From the moment we arrived , we were made to feel valued . The lovely Bird Bird on Reception checked us in . On first night after availing of happy hour and being awake over 30 hours , having travelled from Ireland , I was a little the worse for wear 🫣. The wonderful Meaw in Pineapple Bar really went above and beyond to make sure I was ok . Over the course of the 8 nights , she provided wonderful service and company . She truly is a beautiful person and went above and beyond during our stay . Nas in Talay Restaurant provided excellent service . The joke was that I was expecting a baby elephant 😂...the perils of having a beer belly . Nancy gave a wonderful massage which totally relaxed me , as I could hear the waves on the beach alongside me . Breakfast was had in the Floating Market Daily . It was amazing . You certainly wouldn't leave hungry . As it was low season , the hotel was pretty quiet which was Perfect for us . Every single person we encountered was so hospitable and friendly . This truly was Paradise on Earth . We can't wait to return next year .

It’s perfect for families. Also great for couples as there is an adults only breakfast buffet. Also an adults only pool. As well as two other huge pools; one with a lazy river ride and two slides.

Great location, activities for the whole family

We really loved this hotel in Khao Lak! The whole family had a great time for ten days and wish we could stay even longer! We would absolutely recommend this to everyone!

The room was very clean and a great size! The staff in all areas of the resort were incredibly helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble!

Shops within walking distance nearby was a plus to add some variety. Our room needed a refresher but otherwise direct access to the pool is great for the kids. The resort is large though and bicycles wouldve been a great facility, even the workers use them. Plenty of amenity and we enjoyed ourselves there

Property has seen better days. There were bagworms hanging from the toilet roof, toilet fittings are mouldy and rusting. Rooms smelt like they had been air freshened with toilet deodorant. Bedroom furniture is also worn out and not kept in good condition. It could also have been the season when I was visiting, but there are flies everywhere at dining premises. The main restaurant we used for breakfast was not air conditioned, which probably exacerbated the flies issue. On the upside, the pools were very nice, it was about the part of the stay that we enjoyed the most. We checked out 2 days early and moved to another hotel. Definitely not the 4.5 stars that it's meant to be.

Honestly after reading all the hype about The Sands I was a bit disappointed when we arrived. Check-in was disorganised/slow, and the room was small and worn. They provided a cot for our 3 year old and it looked about 100 years old (we asked them to remove it and she slept in our bed for the week). Mattresses all very firm - they did add toppers at our request which helped. The standard of housekeeping was not great, you couldn't really tell if the room had been cleaned each day. Used cups etc not removed. The app was useful for ordering extra pillows/hangars/water/loo rolls etc. I was also underwhelmed by the water park pool - only really 2 slides and a lazy river for bigger children, and just so busy, impossible to get sunbeds unless you reserved them early. The other pool was much quieter and by the beach so we spent most of our pool time there. Kids club busy and chaotic, I wouldn't have left kids unsupervised there. Breakfast again, just incredibly busy unless you got there around 7am. Hotel highlights for us were seeing the monitor lizards in the big pond and the location next to the beach but also walking distance to lots of shops and restaurants. The grounds were beautiful at night and overall our impression of the hotel was better once we'd settled in. We didn't eat dinner at The Sands - each night we walked or took a tuk tuk to a different restaurant, there was a huge amount of choice in the surrounding area.
