very good staff, good food at restaurant, we had a double room but the bed wasn't big enough for 2 people, we often woke because in the night we often hit each other - the room was big, but very hot also because there was only a window - good location of the hotel, in front of the bus stops from e to St. Herlier

poo The staff on reception were very helpful and courteous and service at breakfast was particularly prompt; bowls, plates etc were cleared away immediately . The hotel interior is bright and welcoming and our room was a good size. The bed was really comfortable. The only thing that was under par was the musty smell coming from the bathroom, despite daily cleaning by staff.. During the 7 days we were there, I decided it must be coming from the aging shower system , as when we had showered, it relieved the smell temporarily. By the time we came back in the evening it was there again. Perhaps deodorising the system is necessary? Otherwise a great stay.

The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. Any request was dealt with swiftly. The food was very, very good, with a good choice on the menu each evening e.g. mussels one evening and whitebait another, which are things we like, but do not usually get offered in hotels. I did request a nice room because it was our Golden Wedding Anniversary while we were there, but did not mention the date because I wasn't looking for anything more. However, a bottle of bubbly was waiting for us in our room, which was very spaceous and comfortable. We do not usually recommend anything to others because tastes are different, but we will recommend this hotel to people.

The room was very clean and spacious. I asked for a quiet room and was given one at the end of the hotel away from the main road and restaurant so was very pleased that they made this possible. The reception staff were all very nice, polite and helpful. The hotel is about a 20 minute stroll to the main bus station and sea front but there are restaurants and shops within minutes so this didn't bother me. I prefer to be away from the main centres. I would recommend this hotel and book again if I went back to St Helier.

Nice hotel only 15 min walk to the town, Hotel staff were great

The Monterey is a lovely, comfortable, homely hotel. It isn't right next to town, there is a bit of a walk but it may have seemed longer to me because I was carrying luggage. Still, it is not that far out. Service was great, room was great, bath and shower (so many hotels now don't bother with baths, which is sad because they are more relaxing than showers in my opinion). A lovely hotel. I highly recommend and would most certainly stay again.

Lovely experience, good breakfast, nice heated indoor pool and jacuzzi. Lovely overall experience.

Only negative of our stay was the hotel had no air conditioning ,but then again we understand thats the same for most hotels. Room was far too hot and thus uncomfortable although we did have a large fan. Room was large with a big comfortable bed and well equipped .Our room was quiet although the roads around the hotel were noisy I would say the drawers needed updating they are dated.
