The Monterey Hotel, Sure Hotel Collection by Best Western

Room was very cold due to the heating only being on for very limited hours. When I complained I was given a radiator and spent time setting it up to come on as it got dark, so that it would be warm on my return. However, when I got back in the evening my room was cold. Staff had unplugged the radiator! There was no atmosphere despite being the week before Christmas. Total silence other than when external groups came in for meals. At breakfast one morning there were workmen in briefly, so Christmas music was played. However, the very second the workmen left the music was turned off. No thought was given to the paying guests. At breakfast the same food was served from the day before, including out of date yoghurt and fruit salad which was going brown. The one redeeming feature was the food in the bar and lounge and the excellent service by the Romanian barman.

Hotel was in a very good location. Plenty of parking spaces. Also close to centre of town to walk out for restaurants and shopping. Staff were very helpful.

Very good, excellent position for walking into centre. Only thing was breakfast is too expensive unless your appetite is enormous. We had breakfast out each day.

Lovely hotel with all the amenities you would need in a good location. The staff in the hotel were fantastic throughout and really made our stay, A real credit to the hotel

Nice pleasant hotel. Good sized rooms. Clean and tidy. Could do with upgrading a bit. Need some power points near the bed for charging phones.

Mixed bag experience. Room was pretty good with a comfortable bed and quiet as away from any traffic. Not so good was 1 hot shower in four and a tiny television. Breakfast was okay, food never piping hot but a decent choice. We didn't have dinner. Bar prices about average for Jersey. Good staff but inadequate seating area. Pool area taken over at one point by a seagull that fancied a dip and then sat on a lounger to dry off! Saw him in the pool twice which could put people off. Overall, a good basic hotel for the retired, who were the vast majority of the clientele. Probably wouldn't return as everything, including entertainment geared for this demographic.

Very good location for town centre and all amenities. Hotel staff are very accommodating and friendly, food was excellent.
