The architecture was rustic mid-century modern and the grounds were absolutely beautiful. The firestoves in the side reading rooms made the atmosphere cozy while the large viewing windows gave us the feeling that we were sitting outside with the sweeping views. Fireflies at nite off the garden room was magical. Staff Andrew and Javier were wonderful. The lodge was super close to Poas Volcano NP and an easy drive early in the morning and the staff worked with us to get breakfast to us quickly that morning so we could make our 8am Poas reservation. Could improve: 1. We could not reach the lodge directly to ask questions and to make a reservation either through the website or through the phone number. We ended up going through Expedia. 2. The room (#4) was amazing but had a musty smell 3. The time from ordering dinner at the lodge to the time it was served was an hour. The food was really delicious (chicken with mushrooms and seabass with mango -- it was just a long wait. The lodge is unique and lovely and we highly recommend staying here.

Poas Volcano Lodge was amazing!!We stayed there for two nights and their hospitality was great!Their staff is extremely dedicated and focused on making your stay a memorable one. They go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and suggesting you right activities for you depending on the weather conditions. Even their masseuse, Sefina and Margarie were great at their work, they made me feel so relaxed! I highly recommend this place for your stay in Costa Rica.

Reception upon check in was a little cool but restaurant staff was very friendly front desk seemed a little inconvenienced when asked for ice for the room but the resort very well maintained and comfortable surroundings were beautiful and the rest of resort staff was friendly
