Clean and spacious rooms. Staff was helpful and courteous. Will recommend lodge to others. My family loved the beautiful birds singing outside our window. From our porch, we could see geese and goslings in a small pond. Super cute. Kona is nice but Hilo rocks!!! Great common area. Really clean.

Arnott's Lodge was a great set-up for a camper. There were covered areas, hot water/showers, very clean and comfortable. I camped for 8 days and Arnott's was great place to relax and recharge. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Be sure to have a good tent/rain fly since it rains a lot in Hilo!

Off the beaten path in a cozy, safe neighborhood Arnott's Lodge was a perfect getaway from city life for a few days. From check in to check out, everything was a breeze. The accommodations were clean, quiet, secure, with easy parking. Close to the airport.

Arnott's Lodge is a quiet, cozy home away from home. The staff were so friendly. We stayed in a studio. Parking was right outside your private entrance so very easy to unload luggage. The studio had air conditioning, a large kitchen island, a 2 burner stovetop, mini fridge, toaster, microwave and utensils. It was so nice to be able to cook our own meals. The private bathroom had a large shower. The bed was our favorite part. Firm but oh so comfortable after a long day of exploring. The beach is a 3 minute walk down to the end of the road. It's a tiny beach entrance and was never crowded. This lodge is extremely close to the Hilo airport and it can be very loud when planes are landing so be aware if you are a light sleeper. We will definitely be staying here again when in Hilo.

We were staying on the west side of the island most of the time, but stayed here one night to catch an early tour from Hilo the next morning. I saw in some reviews/descriptions that surfers like to stay here, so I was a little skeptical. There were 5 of us(all adults) so they put us in a family suite, and i was VERY pleasantly surprised how nice this is and very affordable. Its not fancy, and you can tell its an old building, but everything is very well maintained, clean, and a great front desk manager who took time to show us to the room. My only criticism of the room is not very many electrical sockets and some of those were worn so that the plugs would fall out. But, if we stay in Hilo again, this will definitely be a the top of our list.

This lodge is a little outdated. Room is small. Shared kitchen is convenient. Close to Hilo airport. Very loud when plane pass by. Close to the beaches which are really good for snorkeling. Can see lots of turtles.
